reggie71 0 Posted June 9, 2009 I have been doing ok with the liquids it does get boring and I will be thankful when week 2 comes around but its ok now. I was banded June 2nd. However the gas pain, and I don't mean from the stuff they inflated you with. I feel like I have to burp but cant all the time but I just have a spasm like a hiccup with no sound, my tummy rumbles constantly and its really uncomfortable. I have tried gas x with no relief and my post op is not until the 22nd. Any one else experience this? Hi Astera, I was banded 5/20/09. I feel your pain about the gas ad the rumbling pain. I must tell you that it does get better over time walk, sip you fluids and rest. Walking helps decrease the gas pains. Forget about Gas-X it made e rather sick. Try to follow you plan to the T. It works. Use your spirometer as often as you can. I wish you the best. Cheers, Regina
reggie71 0 Posted June 9, 2009 I was banded on Friday, June 5. I'm having trouble finding enough food to get full on, using the "liquid" phase (creamy Soup, cream of wheat, Jello, etc for 2 weeks). I'm feeling discouraged and frustrated, and wondering if I've made the wrong decision. Has anyone else felt this way soon after they were banded? Would someone please share with me their liquid/mushy food "diet" for the first few weeks after surgery? I need some inspiration! Hi Linsay, Yes I felt like I could eat a whole cup of food, however the truth is your system can only take the 1/4cup. I know it is tough to drink liquids and eat mushies. I pureed Clam Chowder ready to eat Soup for two weeks. I tried to avid the high carb foods. As I told Astera, follow the plan my dear, you made the right choice. I went through the same head hunger deal and questioned my decision but as of today, I will do it all over again.

cj74 0 Posted June 9, 2009 I was banded last week, on June 3rd. I will be on the full liquid diet for 3 weeks before I move on to pureed food! Basically, what I was told is I can have anything that is pourable or can go through a straw (without the straw, of course). My doctor said I could have yogurt and sf pudding at this point too. I asked if I needed to make them more liquidy and he said no, really he just doesn't want me chewing anything. I've been having problems with keeping anything in me though, everything seems to go right through! Sorry, TMI. I'm wondering if it might be the dairy I'm mixing with my Protein Shakes? I've never had any problems digesting dairy before though? I've tried blending some banana in with my shakes but it hasn't really made a difference. Any suggestions? lindas0809 0 Posted June 9, 2009 Baylake- you go to tickerfactory.com and put your info in and it will give you a code that you put into your signature. I think you can put ticker help into the search box and you can get detailed directions. Good luck.

I was banded June 2nd and have been having similar problems. I am on full liquid for two weeks. I'm lactose intolerant so I haven't had any dairy, but everything still seems "to go right through". I talked to my surgeon's office today because it's getting ridiculous (four bathroom visits in 3 hours). They said I could take some Imodium. Hopefully that will help. They also said to be sure to stay hydrated. As if it's not hard enough already. I swear I spend every waking hour drinking. astera 0 Posted June 9, 2009 Reggie71, Thanks for the help. I also read the other post you made on here after this one. My Dr's did not say anything about how much to drink at a time being an issue other than small sips. Since I am doing liquids I havent had any restriction as far as how much a can drink of my Protein shakes and Water juice etc. Should I be limiting it to a 1/4 at a time? How often that sort of thing? Hi Astera,I was banded 5/20/09. I feel your pain about the gas ad the rumbling pain. I must tell you that it does get better over time walk, sip you fluids and rest. lapbandme 0 Posted June 9, 2009 Hello all, had to jump in I was banded June 3rd feeling great, back to work, taking it easy. Yes also starving and so darn hungry I could hardly sleep. The Protein Shakes take the edge off but only so much! But funny I wanted to post this and hopefully get some insight: I hiccuped twice yesterday after slurping broth too quicklly, and since then have had this almost dull, annoying pain (wouldnt even call it pain, its more a sensitivity) in my stomach, or what I've learned is my stomach! (left, lower). It feels like a cramp you get when you drink too much Water and run. When I woke up it was gone...but now afternoon and its back. I so worry about "slippage" but what causes a slip? whats this pain all about
funkydm 0 Posted June 9, 2009 Hey Lindsaaaaaaaaaaay, Glad you actually went thru with it! I got banded on June 2nd as you know and I am doing ok. I feel full all the time, but I am used to all the liquids. I did the liquid diet for a full week before the operation so that helped me alot. I am feeling the same way some of you guys are, I am having pains but I don't know what it actually causing the pain. As of today pains are subsiding but I don't go to the bathroom much at all. I am always drinking Crystal Lite I think that keeps me constantly full. Glad to have so many companions that did this at the same time. Happy to be part of this group! Don't give up guys. Pain will come and go, But this time Skinyness is forever!!!. LOL
nomebug 0 Posted June 10, 2009 astera, I am right there with you with gas pain and stomach or ingesting rumbling. Oh my gosh I hate it. I think that is one reason I am not hungry. My tummy is sore those muscles, but nothing like the gas pain. I have back and shoulder pain. Ok hard question was anyone scared to have to go number 2,(poop)? My tummy still so sore and feel as though I need to go but way to much gas!!! I am going to do much more walking today and hope that helps. I also can't lay flat on back or sides still to sore. Was just banded 6/8. I am also so tired sleep can be hard, was very hard to sleep the first night. Last night woke up when pain meds wore off then took more and took about hour to get back to sleep. I going to go take a nap now before I try walking outside hoping to do 45minutes, I know it will wear me out. Thanks for all the tips nome
babertm 0 Posted June 10, 2009 Hi Lindseyb, Congratulations on your surgery! Happy Birthday to the new you! I noticed you were from TN. I am from the East TN Area (Knoxville). You have made the right decision. I was banded on 3/30/09; just had my second fill this morning. You are only 5 days post-op so you will be feeling some pain from gas and incision points (most likely). Add Protein Powder to your Soups, drinks, etc., to get your Protein in for the day. Just be careful to do 2 oz fluids every 15 minutes (my doc orders). By day 7-10, you should be getting some relief. I actually was a little down/depressed for about 4 days. Absolutely, no reason to be, but I was. The doc said that was normal for some people. Hang in there. Let me know if I can be of help. God Bless!
astera 0 Posted June 10, 2009 Rest rest rest! It is important however difficult it can be at some times. I have been taking the pain meds to help with that I am off of them during the day but sleeping I tried one night without and didn't go so well so will still be doing that for a few more days I think. Hope everyone is doing well! ~Heather
baylakeaverys 0 Posted June 10, 2009 Hey, I don't know what Protein Shakes you are using, but that might make a difference. I am suppose to use optisource (but since they only come in strawberry and carmel (yuck!) I am using the Optifast that I used pre-surgery. I am suppose to have 2 oz 4x day and drink atleast 64 ounces of water/crystal light, etc a day. To be honest, I have been so hungry that I have sucked on about 2 ritz crackers the last couple of days and this has made a huge difference. You might want to change the Protein Shake you are using. I can also have strained Soup and 1% milk (which helps in the morning). Good Luck.
baylakeaverys 0 Posted June 10, 2009 Hi, I don't think it is slippage. I had the "crampy" feeling in my lower left almost from the beginning. The doctor said it was the gas they use to blow up your stomach with moving around. He said it would take several days before it goes away.
