I just had a question. Ok, so yesterday was not the first time I've had fast food, but it was the first time I had a hamburger and a few fries. I felt fine (I don't think I have much restriction), but later I had really bad diarrhea (I know, it's too much information, but I need help lol) and my stomach hurt so bad. Was this from the fast food or was it from something else?

Maybe its because the meal you ate was fairly high in fat and your body isn't used to this anymore.

Maybe the burger was "bad"

Could be lots of things and it would probably be hard to pinpoint exactly what.

Hopefully it clears up soon. If not then speak to your doc. In the meantime I wouldn't worry too much.

lol...this is the second poop post i have commented on today. I should become a Poopologist.

It had to be from the grease. Your body was not used to that stuff and was telling you it did not like it! That happened to me the other day after I had some onion thingies from Chilis.

Yes, I LOVE that we have a resident poopologist! ha ha

I, too, have the same problem if I eat food that is too high in fat or too greasy.....

It's definitely a HUGE learning experience as you get back out into the "real world" of eating.... I'm learning all the time...... I keep track of new things that I introduce into my "post-op" diet - and then see how my body reacts....

Hang in there!

Pick your fast food carefully. Some burgers are flame broiled, and those would be less greasy than those fried on a griddle (i.e., Burger King is flame broiled and Mickey D is fried on a griddle). My favorite fast food is Zaxby's My big treat is a Blue Zalad with buffaloed chicken on it. It has some blue cheese crumbles in it. i don't use their full-fat blue cheese dressing but use my own lite blue cheese. I have eaten this about once a month since I got back to "real" food.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
