Margo 0 Posted September 13, 2005 After lifting something kind of heavy (nothing major) does the area around your port hurt a little? By the way, I am only about 4 weeks out....
Jachut 487 Posted September 14, 2005 Interested too - I'm really worried about this as I have a 2 and a half year old who doesnt understand that I wont be able to pick her up. She's still attached to my left hip 24/7.
giveyouthemoon 4 Posted September 14, 2005 Margo, yes it's normal. You are still healing and it takes a LONG time for the muscles around your port to heal. jachut, it's VERY important not to lift anything after surgery. This is true of ANY surgery done on the stomach area. My sis had laparoscopic work done on her tubes and was told the same thing. What she learned to do was sit on the couch then slide one of her twin boys up on the couch then onto her lap. Or she knelt down and let them climb on her. You don't want to blow out healing muscles in your trunk area. They take a LONG time to heal since they are used so much.
