Any July Bandsters out there?

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Surgery went well, had it on Friday 7/3/09 with Dr. Ortiz.< /span> Dr. Ortiz and his entire staff were amazingly great! I would reccomend him and the clinic to anyone, especially if you're self-pay. It was really easy and I'm recovering well. Still have periods of feeling worn out, run down, a little nauseous, but that's to be expected when I overdo it, which I do. Proud to be a July Jewel!

ahhhh maaaan! I screwed up! My child had scout day camp and I went with him. Didn't even think because we were in a hurry (we forgot), I ate breakfast! Shoooooot! I'm so mad at myself! I hope I'm not back to square one, my surgery is Monday. I have lost 9 lbs in 6 days, but still, I'm pissed at myself!

Hey everyone, it's now been exactly 1 week since being banded and I am feeling mahvelous. I wouldn't even know I had it were it not for the incisions...I'm down 12 lbs since surgery. I find that my 8oz Protein Shakes or creamy Soups keep me full for 2 to 3 hrs and getting my Water in is also no problem. Thankfully I am able to take standard size drinks and not just little sips, because I have always been a huge water drinker and was concerned that I wouldn't be able to just take sips

Glad to hear that everyone else is having a great start on their journey and best of luck to those who's journey is about to begin!

Hi July band buddies! My band date is also July 21st. It's been so funny to read posts from others that feel the same way I do. So excited, but the negative talk (in my own head) has already started.

I had my band put in on 7/6 at 10 am! Everything went very smoothly. When I first woke up, I remember telling someone that it felt like an elephant was standing on my chest and I couldn't breath, they just told me to take deep breaths and within a few minutes I was fine. It felt like in no time at all I was back in my room snoozing. My fiance was great, kept me company the entire time but knew when to be quiet too so I could sleep.:frown: My nurse was great, made me walk up and down the hall 2x in between naps. They discharged me at 7pm and I actually felt great, I came home and cleaned the kitchen, lol.

2nd day was the worst for me. I just couldn't get comfortable. The port area was really hurting and the gas was bad. And then embarassingly, everytime I tried to relieve gas I would mess myself at the same time:scared2:! I guess it was all that liquid from the pre-op diet. Still happens to this day, so I have learned very quickly to go to the bathroom if I need to get rid of any gas.

3rd and 4th day was good, a little uncomfortable but not too bad.

5th day, I actually got really hungry today but I had about 4-6oz of carnation instant Breakfast and that helped. The biggest thing now besides hearing all the rumblind and tumbling going on in my belly is I cannot burp and it's driving me nuts. It's like it come almost all the way up but no matter what I do I can't get it out. I'm off of the pain meds which I'm really glad of, and I actually went shopping at Walmart and Target today as well as put in 2 hours at work.

Good luck to all of you!:tongue_smilie:

Hi Deb, I also am to be banded July 21st and spent the day at hospital for pretesting and a 2 hour visit with a nurse. I've been researching this for weeks and thought I had it all down, but it was kind of overwhelming to hear it all in a two hour class. Im on my pre-op which is a low fat diet, my Doctor doesn't require the liquid diet except for 24 hrs before surgery. I wish you the very best as we travel this journey together. PS My son lives in TN.

Going to post before my laptop dies!!! LOL!!!! My surgery is Monday and I'm exited....and nervous. I've only lost 7 pounds. I'm on low cal diet....I usually do Protein Shakes during the day and a lean cuisine or ww meal at night. My husband is going to come and wait for me...awwww....just kidding. He is legally blind and can't drive so my sister is taking us there and will pick us up, but my hubby will be there probably listening to his MP3 player or something until it's time to go. Hopefully all will go well.....good luck to those still waiting for surgery and congrats to those who are done with theirs.....

July Jewels rock!!!!!!!!!!!

Saw my PCP & officially started my 6 month supervised diet 07/26/24. She just told me to eat less carbs & sugar, use the air fryer and not fry my foods in grease, and to try to walk 30 minutes 3 days a week & if I can't do that (and I cannot), to walk 10 minutes daily. Told me to walk fast enough that my heart rate is raised.  She didn't give me a number as far as calories though. A year or so ago I was doing low carb/sugar free and keeping my calories at 1800 or below. She said I should up my cals to 2000 at that time, so that's what I'm shooting for now.
Hubby walked with me today. He's in pretty bad shape so I was surprised he wanted to. We walked down the gravel road at a pretty good pace (for us LOL). 10 minutes walking and my heart rate was 115bps according to my Fitbit and 125bps according to his pulsometer. Either way, it was elevated and I was breathing hard. Doesn't sound like a lot, but it's a start. We'll do it again tomorrow. 😁
I should be hearing from the surgeon soon. She said if I didn't, to call him next week. Since I HAVE to do the 6 month diet & that's going to put me into January by the time it's done, I'm hoping the surgeon will let me do all my testing in January. I don't want to do it all now and have my deductible get met, only to have to pay the deductible again in January or February for my surgery. Praying that things go the way I hope. 🙏

Factors Affecting the Growth of the Alternative Sweeteners Industry:
Health Consciousness: The increasing awareness among individuals about the health issues linked to high sugar consumption, such as obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases, is supporting the market growth. Consumers are becoming more health-conscious and seeking products that can provide sweetness without the negative health effects associated with sugar. This shift in consumer preferences is leading to a greater demand for low-calorie and natural sweeteners like stevia, monk fruit, and erythritol. These sweeteners offer the added benefit of having minimal impact on blood glucose levels, making them suitable for diabetic and health-conscious individuals.
Technological Advancements: Innovations in the production and formulation of alternative sweeteners are impelling the market growth. Advancements in biotechnology and food science are leading to the development of high-intensity sweeteners with improved taste profiles and functional properties. Innovations in fermentation processes enhance the production efficiency and quality of natural sweeteners like stevia and monk fruit. These technological improvements are making alternative sweeteners more appealing to both manufacturers and consumers. Enhanced stability, solubility, and sweetness intensity allow these sweeteners to be used in a wide range of products, ranging from beverages to baked goods.
Consumer Trends and Preferences: Evolving consumer trends and preferences are playing a significant role in driving the alternative sweeteners market. The growing demand for clean-label products, which are healthier and free from artificial ingredients, is offering a favorable market outlook. Consumers are increasingly seeking natural and plant-based sweeteners, aligning with broader trends toward plant-based diets and veganism. Besides this, there is an increase in the demand for low-calorie and sugar-free alternatives that support weight management and overall wellness. Food and beverage companies are responding to these trends by innovating and expanding their product lines to include options sweetened with alternative sweeteners, thereby catering to changing tastes and health concerns of modern consumers.
