Newbie, banded on 6/1/09

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm Jose.

I just got banded 5 days ago. I'm still sore from it. Other than that I'm just plain ol hungry, and sick of the liquid only diet. I hope to lose alot of weight, I have a few friends that had it done and had success with it. So we'll see how it goes with it.

I was done 2nd. Not really hungry yet. In the morning it takes quite a while to get to the point where I want to eat but have been having Protein Drink or yogurt drink as I know I need it.

I am finding that later in the day I can eat a bit more but at this point the Soup and stuff is enough to satisfy me. A couple of times I have had the shakes so then I just drink fruit juice.

Hang in there it will get better. Try to have at least 70 grams of Protein a day and that will help you feel better and have more energy. I was banded May 22nd and lost 20 pounds from the 10 day pre-op and 10 day post-op. I had last 41 before I started that so I am now at 61 pounds down and about 100 to go:w00t: hahahahahaha.............sounds bad when I say it like that. Just keep focused and GOOD LUCK!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
