I am horrified. I have been reading threads about sliming. I was excited that I would begin soft foods next week, but so many people have had episodes of sliming on all types of food. I am so scared. Please? Anyone? Please tell me that not everyone have this experience. One lady reported sliming for 3 hours. She said she could not speak and her airway was partially blocked. All say it was painful.

THE POLL QUESTION MAYBE CONFUSING. I FAILED TO EDIT BEFORE I POSTED.

The question should read: Did you experience Sliming on solids?

The best piece of advise my surgeon gave me was at the inital lab band meeting. He told the group that once you have the surgery, all food pieces should not be larger than a die (dice). I started doing this right after that meeting so I could understand what that meant. Let me tell you that has helped so much! I was banded on 7/8/08 and I have not once slimed, vomitted, etc. I make sure that all my food bites are smaller than a dice. If I feel food going thru the band (as you get more fill this happens) then I stop, think about what I ate, what was the size of it and did I chew it well enough. Usually I didn't chew enough, I was in a hurry or multi tasking while I was eating and that will do it. Slow down, think while eating and you will be good. Good luck.

Thanks for responding. Inn your advice is most appreciated. I will follow it to the letter. I have a question for JUJU. What is pb'd? Is that something else I need to be concerned about.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
