I have been on liquids for 4 weeks. First week on liquid diet surgery post-poned due to insurance then one more week of liquid and had surgery and liquid for two weeks post op. Long story I am supposed to be on mushy but feel like I can eat anything.. Is this normal? My first fill is in 3 weeks and am worried I may eat too much.. I just had a slice of pizza(which is down from a whole pizza I would eat before) and I feel really guilty.. I am getting protien from shakes but I am worried about overeating before my next fill.. Anyone else experience same thing?

I don't want to make you feel guilty but you need to definitely make sure you are watching the things you eat. It can be dangerous to jump from liquids to pizza. It is a very difficult time but remember to take it day b day. reward yourself wih a sugar free fudge icepop, or sugar free popsicle. You want to follow this as much as you can, that way you dont feel guilty, because that guilt can grab a hold of your success ( I have felt the guilt too). Good luck to you on this process.

Yes it is normal to be able to eat more you have a loose band with no restriction. However for most of us it is VERY important to follow the doc's directions so that you can heal. Peristalsis (digestion) makes your stomach churn and can loosen your stitches causing a slip now or later.

You aren't the first this has happened to but it isn't really a good thing...check with your doc. Odds are at 2 weeks you'll be ok but it should be his call. They really should stress more how important the post op diet is.
