Hello all, I am new here and getting pretty freaked out about my upcoming surgery. I have so many different feelings about it. Happy, excited, stressed, scared, anxious, and just plum freaking out. I know I am making the right choice. And I really think I was more freaked out about the fact that I am having to do an all liquid diet until my surgery. Did anyone else have to do this for 2 weeks pre op? Please let me know how you dealt with it. It's extremely hard and stressful.

Hi Nikki

Just take a deep breath and try to remain calm, do everything you can to distract yourself from thinking about the liquid diet. I am sure people approach it different ways, I plan on weening myself ONTO the Protein shakes by adding them in as Breakfast 6 weeks pre-op, then breakfast/lunch 4 weeks pre-op followed by ONLY shakes 2 weeks pre-op.

Just remember all the reasons you made this decision and all the benefits it will bring, be brave and you will be fine - we're all here to support you!

Thanks so much you guys, I know I am doing the right thing, I guess it just doesn't keep me from being scared the closer and closer I get to surgery. The liquid diet is going really well now and so far I have lost 13lbs. I've stopped fixating on food as much and started working in the yard or going for walks or just getting online to see what everyone is up to. Thanks again for the great support, if it weren't for the great people on here I'm not sure I would make it through all this!

Hey everyone! Just wanted to let everyone know that I made it through surgery and did great!

Now if I just get through this Jello and Water diet I will be doing good. Only a couple more days left.

Thanks for all the great support!

Way to go!!! I too had my band placed on June 12 and also doing great, except for the rumbling in my tummy!!! I finally figured out how I feel, Like I just got over a 5 day stomach flu??? How does that compare with you??? I am so ready to go past the Protein Shakes, Water, Jello, etc stage and move onto cottage cheese or else just creamy something!!! Let me know how you are doing?? :blushing:

Thanks

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
