I think it is, but it's so hard to tell if I am just not chewing well enough.

I had my 4th fill yesterday. He added 1 cc, so I am up to 9cc in a 14 cc band. I was ready for a fill becuase I was hungry after 2 hours and not eating like I should which was my sign I was ready.

So, now, when I eat, I am in pain! Maybe I am not chewing well enough? I had turkey and cheese for dinner last night and did ok with that. But for Breakfast I tried Special K Cereal and couldnt get but a few bites down because I was uncomfortable (maybe the milk going down with the cereal)?

Also, right now, I have been trying for a 1/2 hr to eat an apple for a morning snack and thats bothering me and I never had problems with apples before.

But I was still able eat my popcorn for a snack last night with no problems.

Anyone have any insight?

I'm also wondering if my band is too tight, and I posted a similar query just moments after yours, so I don't really have answers but I am curious, does your doctor allow patients to eat regular foods (apple, cereal, etc.) after a fill? My doctor recommends only liquids the day of the fill, and then one day of mushies after that, then if all is OK, back to regular food. You might try going back to liquids or mushies (but make sure to say away from hidden bubbles like a Protein shake blended in the blender!).

Actually you may be ok. A lot of people find they are to tight in the morning to eat Breakfast and stick to a Protein Shake. Then are lunch time things loosen up. My doctor told me not to be surprised if I can not eat breakfast once I get to my sweet spot. Good Luck

Thanks! I used to do a Protein Shake in the morning and have a banana for a mid-morning snack but I got bored of those after 5 months, lol. So maybe that is what I will try again tomorrow and see how it goes.

My dr says normal foods after a fill are fine. He says just listen to your body. He was only going to do 1/2 cc in my last fill but did a full cc and told me yesterday that if I started "choking" to call him and get back down there before 4  Thank god I didnt choke, LOL

You might find that now you are nearer your sweet spot some foods you could tolerate before don't agree with you.

Sometimes it takes a few days to settle down after a fill, I usually stay on liquids for 24 hours then soft foods for a further 24 before eating normally.

once you get to that sweet spot or to the point where you have a proper restriction you won't be able to east some of the same things u use too. drinking a shake for breakfast or eating nothing for breakfast worked for me because I am tighter in the morning's also try to chew more and take smaller bites and ssee if that helps

Damn, how I am hoping to find that sweet spot..

I have only had one fill, and my doctor wants me on two days of Clear Liquids followed by 2 days of full liquids after a fill. I abbreviate it to 3 days of Protein shakes.. LOL

Also, I guess your stomach may have swollen slightly, so taking it a little easier for a day or two might help..

keep well, good luck

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
