I drink Water and tea. I am looking for some info on the things I must have after I get home from the hospital..Please if anyone could help me out. I need to know about what brands of food are best. Other stuff too. Please..I will be waiting for your help.:(

Mustlooseit, your doctor/surgeon should have a post-op diet for you. Each doctor/clinic/hospital is different. Mine is another two weeks of liquids, my daughter got soft foods on day four. So first thing is to check with your doctor about what he wants you to be on. You'll get a gazillion responses on here because everybody is different. Good luck. I was banded on this past Monday and still no hunger/appetite. Doing my liquids/jello/soup because I know I have to, but that's it...soreness, very little pain.

Good luck

You are right about every doctor being diffrent. I was reading the surgery day posts and am still not done reading them yet. I have my shakes:rolleyes: special K has a new drink they just came out with. I am going to take this one step at a time and not let myself freak out..lol. I got the gas-x. I also got the chapstick  and bottles of Water. I love reading posts on here. It sure helps me to get ready for this life change I am about to make :tongue2:

Hi "MustLooseIt!"

It looks like we're going in on the same day! Go us! I know what you mean about being a little nervous. Although I've been waiting for two years, I'm starting to get nervous now that I have a date. You're right, one thing at a time, don't freak out! This is probably the best thing that the both of us have ever done. =)

Good luck and you know where to turn for support!

good luck on the 5 grams of sugar in the Protein...I guess maybe if you make them yourself and add maybe splenda. I like the Naked Protein drinks.

Have fun

Update on Naked Protein drinks...not having those anymore. Duh, it helps to read the silly label. it's 440 calories per bottle. You would think with all my dieting years I would have noticed that there were two servings per bottle. Yes, it is 30 grams. So no more of those!! :blushing:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
