Hi everyone,

I just joined. Hope everyone is having a great day!

I am off to Mexico for my Lap Band on October 6th :-)

I need to find a good fill doc here in North Carolina. Dr. Bauman is rather pricey... any one have good suggestions? I am willing to go anywhere. Anywhere in NC is closer than Mexico!!

Hi Claudia Welcome to LBT

Who is doing your surgery in Mexico?

You can email Don Mills at Inamed and ask him to email you a list of Dr.'s in your area, then you will have to call each and everyone of them to see if they will take on patients who were banded in Mexico, unfortunately many US docs dont and the ones the do will charge alot more for their services. If you are not planning on going back to MX , I reccomend you get a Dr. lined up to take care of your aftercare prior to leaving for MX, I have seen many who have not done this and have been forced to go back to MX but I have also seen many who went back to MX because the cost of flying back was cheaper then what the US doc was going to charge. Best of Luck to you :)

His email address is Don.Mills@inamed.com

Dr. Sanchez in Monterrey is doing my surgery. I have talked to Dr. Gonzales' office in Winston Salem and Dr. Bauman in Concord. Gonzales is much cheaper than Bauman. There has to be more than 2 that will do it... but those two were on Dr. Sanchez' list. Thanks for the email address!

I would like to go back to Mexico - but I want to be prepared if the plane tickets get way too outrageous.

Hey Claudia, I was banded in TJ by Dr Kuri and I see Gonzales for fills. No problems. Just schedule in advance. Oh, and unfills are the same price as fills. Be prepared!! :) Let us know if you find another fill doc. It's good to know who is out there.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
