I would like to know if any of you experienced nausea everytime you try to sip a little broth. I have got nasiated on the smallest amount. to the point that since I have had surgery I have probably only had about a measuring cup full in 4 days. does this happen to everyone. becuase of this I don't even want to eat anything. thanks for the help in advance!

You may want to try making your own chicken broth. Put a chicken in a pot full of Water with seasoning to your taste and boil it, then medium simmer for about 45 minutes. Skim off the fat, give the chicken to someone else, and the broth left is for you. It tastes much better fresh. You can do this with vegetables if you like too. If this makes you nausiated too, then call your nurse I think. GB

of course, i'm speaking from having bg surgery, and not the band, but i've had a similar reaction, so i thought i'd respond anyway.

i got pretty sick a few days after my surgery, and couldn't keep anything down, not Water or broth. then, for several days after that, i couldn't stand the taste of Water or broth. now, today, it seems my taste has changed again, and i'm back to being able to drink water. the broth, i'm just not crazy about.

i think it's because when i felt bad, i tasted the broth and water, and my mind somehow got me stuck thinking that water and broth were bad, because i was sick when i had them.

try a different brand of broth, or try just dissolving a buillion cube in some water, cuz that can taste a LOT different than broth. also, try the veggie broth. i found that i can tolerate it a lot better than chicken broth, even though the opposite was true before my surgery.

good luck to you.

thank you for the responses. i talked to my nurse and we think we figured out the problem. I really get sick everytime i stand up it feels like so much pressure on my tummy. but then we relized it was due to my chest. lets just say I am very large there (a size j) and even with a sports bra it puts too much weight on my healing tummy. They say I need to try to find something to help me keep my chest higher off my stomach. my husband tinks hes funny by saying he could duct tape me! I would like to find a differant solution..lol. if you have a suggestion im all ears.

well now, that's an unexpected response!

it's sort of a good thing that it's "just" that causing your problem... may be easier to find a solution than if it was something else!

sports bra don't really "lift" me as much as squish me down so i'm not bouncing around when i exercise. i think something with more "lift" would be good. i'm picturing those bras with the criss cross... lift and separate!

i usually end up making my shoulder straps as short as possible, so i can get "the girls" up higher, and avoid lace. the best bra i've ever found that gets them up higher than any other had really stiff cups, and an underwire. (it's the 5 way convertible bra from lane bryant, but the largest size is DD!) the stiff cups i had always avoided before, because i figured i didn't need any extra padding, but i was amazed at how much more supportive they were. it reminded of how a corset sort of makes your boobs bubble up out of the top. hehe

also, i'd often criss cross the straps in the back, which seemed to pull them up even more, and they stayed completely off my tummy!

good luck!!

have you tried this bra? http://www.lanebryant.com/pagebuilder/lane_bryant_product_page?pagesize=4&my_nav=special_sizes_fits&cat=braFGH&subcat=&item=8998809&s19b=Bras%20|%20Sizes%20F,G,H&s19c=9

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
