Approved for RNY!!

Recommended Posts

Well to all of you who knew me as "BrandyII" as well as the current "Nanook" I have finally been approved for my RNY surgery.

I wish all of you continued success with your lap bands and those that haven't had success and revised to sleeves or RNY or DS I wish all you all continued success also.

This was the first forum I've ever joined and have made some good friends and learned a lot about everything from issues with the band to some things I can't even say out loud in the powder room! I'll probably keep a lurkin' as I doubt even if Alex does make a "revision" or "RNY" forum I'd go there as this was my home for such a long time. Anyway just want to say thanks for all your support you all have been fun! Thanks Nancy.:frown:

OH!

You're Brandy II???

My Gosh, I didn't realize that! I've only known you as nanook....But i remember you very well from last year as BrandyII. When I first came on this forum last year and created a bit of a firestorm when i related my really nasty experience with the band, you were one of a handful of people that were very kind to me, and I very much appreciated that.....Nice to know you're here!

Headhunter,

Your post made me laugh! I'm still BrandyII on most forums but I left this one after some "drama" and when I came back it wouldn't accept my old screen name and came back with a new one. I remember your drama quite well too but at least we're all doing well now and are healthier! Take care Nancy.

Nanook Congrats and good luck. You know you can still post. You don't have to lurk. their are others who have had revisions of all types and they still post. I think the info from ya'll is very useful. It might help someones else who might be needing a revision or might have symptoms that they don't realize are problems until they read ya'lls post. So keep us posted. lol

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
