Dr. Neil Floch - Wonderful surgeon

Recommended Posts

I had Lapband surgery on 9/4/08 with Dr. Neil Floch @ Norwalk Hospital. He is a wonderful surgeon. He took his time with me in the weeks leading up to surgery making sure I understood everything. He was patient and understanding when I got cold feet and postponed my surgery for the summer. There was never any pressure at all. His office staff was great and his bedside manner is fantastic. I felt very well cared for and never felt like I was bothering them with my questions or concerns. (and I had a lot) His staff is very friendly and helpful and helped me schedule appointments that fit my schedule. I cannot say enough about how wonderful this man is, he truly listens to me at each appointment and shares my success with me as I lose weight.

I also had Neil perform my surgery. really down to earth guy that will just plain talk to you. He really makes you feel comfortable with what's going on and will help you with anything you are in need of. I can't say enough about the staff, they are fantastic! Everyone is always helpful and willing to help you out. I was banded on 9/11/08 I started at 330lbs and am now 119 lbs, so down 111 lbs. Neil has been really supportive throughout the entire process.

Thanks for the input. My mother was banded a few weeks ago by Craig Floch and I'm going in for banding in May with Neil at Norwalk Hospital. I have heard nothing but good things about both doctors and the office. I'm looking forward to it! I will post my experience as well.

Hey all. Glad to find this forum. I am just short of a month, having the procedure on 12/30/10. Dr. Neil is very good, and I am anxious to get this rolling full steam. Due to weather and illness, I haven't had my post op visit yet...........28 inches of snow does that, but, I am so glad I decided to do this, even if it came out of pocket. What was the hardest part for all of you when you started. Mine has been hunger. Also, I really need to change habits if this is going to be successful. How did you all manage that?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
