Go for my pre-op doctor's visit tomorrow Wednesday, June 3rd. @ 11am. This is when I will be given my final pre-op instructions!! I'm a bit nervous about what I'll have to do to prepare!! I surely don't need to "fall of the wagon" now that I am this close!!

Banding date: Tuesday, June 9th. Have to be at the hospital by 11:30am for surgery at 1:30pm!! Must admit now that it is so close I am really nervous!!!

Thanks for all the support from this wonderful group. I hope in the very near furture I can give some great help to those awaiting the process!!

Congratulations! This home stretch can certainly get one nervous! I'm getting banded on the 9th also, have to be at the hospital at 4am for 6am surgery. They won't need to 'put' me to sleep, I'll already be there! :frown:

My pre-op is the 8th at 9am, it's a 2 hour drive from home so we're gonna just stay in El Paso overnight..

Good luck, and I'm looking forward to talking with you on the 'other side' LOL!

WOW!! I wish I were getting done that early!! I am used to being up at 2 or 3am as I go to work very early!! The nothing to drink after midnight is going to be hard for me because I know I will be up no later then 4am. I am thinking about making my self stay up until 2am, getting up at 7am, taking my shower and heading out at 8am.

What do you have to do prior to your banding? Any special diet for you? I know I will have to do the liquid thing but don't know for how many days!! I'm gonna sew my mouth shut!!

Will post again as soon as I can after banding!! Good luck to you!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
