Anyone have restriction without a fill?

Recommended Posts

I am almost a month post-op and I can hardly eat anything at each meal. I have to eat less than a cup of food or my chest and stomach hurt. I also notice that both solids and liquids seem to sit in my esophagus before moving down sometimes. In the mornings I have very little appetite and only drink a Protein Shake. I can eat more as the day goes on. I am just wondering if I will even need a fill when the time comes. I can't imagine eating less than I do now. I am not even getting in 1000 calories a day.

I don't have a lot of restriction right now. I am hungry a lot. I am trying to be strong lol. My first fill is scheduled July 1st. I would really like to be down to 270 by then. Will see if I can do it!

I had my first post op visit today. My first fill appt. is 7/15. My doctor told me I may not need a fill, depending on how I am doing. I have rarely felt hungry, am exercising every day and taking in between 600-700 cal a day.

There is no way I can eat a full cup. I'm about 20 days post op and my doctor has me only eating 5 tbs for 3 meals plus 2 Protein Drinks at 4 oz. I only get in about 600 to 700 calories. Maybe I can eat a little bit more but I'm told this is in prep for my first fill. I could get more calories if I wanted through liquids but I don't choose to do that. A full cup, I'd be sick.

I can drink liquids without much restriction, but it takes very little Soup to make me full. Dont know if that makes sense. I have my followup on Friday, hopefully at that time I can be moved up from liquids...

I was hoping I would find a question like this. i am one week post op and find it hard to eat more than 4-6 oz of liquids products(pudding, Protein shake, yogurt, etc) before feeling pressure. I don't have any problems with Clear Liquids (water, juice, etc) The surgeon told my mom that I was "restricted" but I wasn't expecting it so soon. Will I feel better as I heal? I'm worried about having trouble when I can start eating semi-solid food.

Danielle, when it hurts in your chest/stomache...where is the pain? I sometimes feel pressure and I'm wondering if it is in the same place. Thanks!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
