Banded May 19 & feeling good but tired

Recommended Posts

I was banded May 19 at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth. I am finally getting back to my old self (minus a few pounds ) but am so sleepy all of the time. I'm guessing that this comes with the territory, but thought I'd check and see if any of you were feeling the same way. I just found this forum and love it! The information and support that is offered here is just great. Anyone else banded on the 19th? Nice to "meet" you all!

I was also banded on the 19th along with my best friend. We had back to back surgeries and were able to have an entire day and night at the hospital together. My energy level came back to normal by three of four days after surgery. My best friends did as well. I feel really fortunate that we felt as great as we did. I am sure you will get sronger and I truly believe that the more you push yourself to walk and move the quicker the energy comes back. Good luck.

Today I went to the market and to pick up some meds at the clinic and I am totally wiped out.

I also find that the bra band and the waistband from my slacks cause soreness.

In an hour I am going to take a nap.

Today is the first day I didn't take multiple naps. I worked from home (just phone and email) and I made it through the whole day!

I think I'll go to the office tomorrow... maybe.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
