jem8384 0 Posted May 31, 2009 (edited) Hi I was wondering if anyone out there has submitted their 5 year weight history to UHC or any other Ins company and it was not a consistent 5 years? That's the problem im having now I have 5 years of weight history but not consistently ya know. For example I don't have weights for 05&06. Why? No insurance couldn't afford to go to doctor but however I do have 2000-04 weights (courtesy of past OB/GYN) and 07 weights till present with PCP and current OB/GYN. Any advise would be good. Thanks so much! Edited May 31, 2009 by jem8384 Paragraph needed to polished.

I hope UHC accepts them it sounds like you are a little ahead of me I have to see the dietion before my surgeon will submit my claim to the insurance company so can you let me know how you turn out with UHC and good luck

I can go back ten years but its spotty like yours.. first Ive been on diet pills and many other yo-yo fad diets and lost for just a few months only to gain back the weight plus some and then Im like you my huge deductable kept me away from the doctor some years. I have to have my thyroid out before I can proceed with getting the insurance to pay. I would like to hear what your progress is..

I have to have my thyroid out before I can proceed with getting the insurance to pay. I would like to hear what your progress is.. HI yzplnxg Well I was able to gather up a 5 year history LOL I had to dig and remember doctors I had gone to in the past. I have my 3rd Appt with surgeon this week and they will send all the info to UHC then. Now when I did the seminar and we had the Q&A with the nurse that handles the ins info I asked her what about spotty weight history. I told her I did not have 5 consecutive years of weight history but I had 5 years she said that was fine the ins company is understanding of that I was sooo HAPPY when she said that. Also my BMI has not always been at 42 its been at 37,36, 32, etc. and she also told me they will submit the paper work at the BMI im at now which is 42. I also have looked at the paper work that doctor has written up he has diagnosed me with Morbid obesity and thats what the insurance want to see. I have done the yo yo diets got the weight off just was not able to keep it off. Also every UHC plan is different I see on here that some peoples UHC plan you can be under 40 BMI with comorbilties and my plan you have to be at 40 BMI nothing else. Also when I call I speak to care coordinator the customer service reps no nothing about WLS they have given me such bad info about it and doctors office also speak to care coordinators to get their info. I hope this has helped. GOOD LUCK!!

I called today and they said it was still under reveiw should I be worried because I've read most people get an answer within a couple of days with UHC
yzplnxg 0 Posted July 8, 2009 I wouldn't be worried. Until you hear something negative.. think positive!! They probably just have a heavy work load. This is around a holiday so probably there is a lot of people off work with it being summer!! Don't worry just be glad you are finally at this stage!!
