Went to the Doc today....down two lbs. weight now 227. Had a long talk about a goal weight again as I'm losing muscle mass. It's funny to say I don't think there's any more fat to lose...lol..lol....

Actually gave me an unfill. Removed .3cc . I may be at goal. Will see him and discuss at my next visit on 11/2/09.

Meanwhile , my port is sticking out a little too much. Hurts when I exercise :) or when my belt or pants pushes against it as I bend down. I am now scheduled for a port revision on 10/26/09. 15 minute procedure in the O.R. Will change port to a smaller one and put it under my stomach muscle.

Im very frustrated the last couple weeks. I have been fluctuating up and down 2 pounds with no weight loss. ever since my second fill I have had absolutly NO RESTRICTION! I have been hungry all the time. I hate it. I need to get another fill but I have to get someone to watch my kids and then travel 2 hours out of town and pay $250 each time I go. well I know it is what I need I just wish I was going back with at least a little weight loss. sorry, guess I just needed to blow off steam. I want to be in onederland by the end of the year. It seems like 20# would be easy but with no weightloss it seems unatainable right now. I will see if I can make an appointment for sometime next week.

Wow, John, awesome news about possibly reaching goal!! You have crossed the finish line in record time!!! Sorry to hear about the port, but I am glad to hear that the port revision is a relatively simple operation. Will insurance pay for that, I hope? Mine is starting to stick out, also, but mine is up higher, so it doesn't cause me problems. I just catch myself rubbing my tummy all the time, like a pregnant woman does. LOL

Well, thanks to my unfill last week, I  and made it down to the "overweight" category! :frown:

Carrie, congrats to you on your awesome loss!

And, less-of-me, it definitely sounds like you are due for a fill. Why can't you take your kids with you? Or is it possible to find a fill doctor closer to your home? I'm sure once you get some more restriction, the lbs will be dropping off! Keep your chin up! :w00t:

Spidey,

Because of my port problems they have to do the fill under fluoroscopy and the only doctor that does that for a mexico patient is 2 hours away. They actually do the fill in the operating room and nobody can go in with me (thats way I cant take the kids with me). But I did just schedual a fill appointment for October 20th. Now I just need to find someone to watch the kidos! heres to hopefully getting restriction on the 3rd fill!!!

btw spidey congrats on being "overweight" (that does seem to sound funny congratulating...lol) you are doing awesome!!!

Lol, thanks. It does sound funny, huh?

I forgot you had the port problems! Oh, I'm sorry that is causing so much of a hassle, but it will definitely be worth it. You shouldn't be hungry like that all of the time. That's miserable. I know, I've been there! It's very hard to resist temptation that way. Glad you got an appointment made. In the meantime, hang in there!!:thumbup:

Hello!

Congrats to everyone - even if the scale didn't move in the right direction. We are all making great progress.

I lost 3 pounds this week for a total of 66 lost. I'm at 207. SO thrilled to be close to One-derland - my next goal. I hope to hit 199 by Thanksgiving. I'm on my way!

Keep up the great work everyone.

Stay strong!

Ann - Insurance should pay for the port revision. I just went to my primary Friday for the medical clearance and for the first time since I was 28 yrs old he said...." Congrats you are no longer overweight." I said excuse me....:w00t:.He said - for your height, etc - you are no longer overweight. ( He hasn't seen me since March 09.) It felt pretty good to hear that......

I am afraid of getting the unfills to hold my weight. Afraid of gaining....If I ever see the scale jump up 10 lbs ( ever) , then it's time for a fill. Hopefully , that will not happen.

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
