First fill, burping water, Unfill?

Recommended Posts

Okay, so I had my first fill yesterday. My doc is leaving town for an extended vacation and he said that if I have any reflux or nausea, I should call them asap today. Well, yesterday, I was drinking tea and burped it up. I feel like there is this tight thing in my chest. I didn't eat dinner, but did eat a small portion of ice cream (bad, I know...but we were at a restaurant and they had NO soups!...excuses, excuses...). The ice cream was okay. But this morning, I had one of those danactive drinkable thingees, which is about the size of a shot glass. I feel nauseated, a little slimy and really tight. I've called the doc's office, but I am wondering if I am just having to get used to the feeling or if I need to have a little taken out. He only put 1.5cc's in my band yesterday. I feel a real difference though.

Am I being a wimp or is this abnormal?

I wish I had an answer for you. When I went for my first fill and drank the Water the Dr asked how it felt and the only thing I could tell is that I felt it stop part way down then a gas/air bubble come up and the water go down. It felt like htat every time even the last time when I finally said fine. Now one week later I've feeling soe restriction but able to eat mor then the 1/4 or 1/2 cup wwe are suppose to but still not as much as I used to.

Hey JayTee, thanks for your reply. I talked to the nurse on Friday and actually started feeling a little better. I guess that it's just going to feel strange after a fill and I just have to get used to it. I went to a party last night and ate about a cup of food, but it all went down. I do have to chew, chew, chew though or it hurts like hell. It's all good and I'm a wimp I suppose. I just hate nausea with a passion!!! The other thing I discovered is that I do not do well at all on Clear Liquids. I get really sick to my stomach and dizzy. Once I add solids back into my diet, the nausea disappears and I feel normal. Ah well, thanks for listening....

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
