Dr. Eric Schlesinger - We Heart Dr. Schlesinger!!

Recommended Posts

My husband and I had surgery done by Dr. Schlesinger in January 2009 and couldn't be more pleased. Our experience from the beginning was educational and supportive. The office staff (especially Jen Bradshaw- whom we also heart!) was friendly, helpful, and very knowledgeable. They understood the ropes on getting the surgery approved by our insurance and made the process very smooth.

Dr. Schlesinger is a straight shooter who let us know all the pros and cons in order to help us make an informed decision. Dr. Schlesinger has been supportive, honest, and I feel truly cares about my success.

I would recommend Dr. Schlesinger to anyone who is looking for an honest, caring, overall good Dr and office staff!

I also just saw Dr. Schlesinger and I am so happy with him!!! I recently moved to Arizona from Oregon and not one doctor here would see me. I ended up in the ER due to pain from band and also gallbladder and the doctor in ER told me good luck and that he has Lap Band in Mexico and if you had surgery out of state you are SOL!! So I had called 22 lap band doctors total, one doctor did agree to look over my medical records for 1,500 down and agreement to enroll in nutritional and workout programs through his clinic...I was hopeless. I found Dr Schlesinger's # and I cried when they told me they would see me!!! He unfilled my band as I had been throwing up for the entire year I had my band!!! And did gallbladder removal and is working with me on how to actually eat and live with the band (seems so each for everyone else but me) he is a blessing and I am so glad he is my doctor and yes Jen is also great with helping with insurance and so informative....this doctor is the best and if you live close by and you are considering lap band so yourself a favor and go see him!!!!

Hello,

I haven't posted in a while, but am back to looking for a Lap Band surgeon. I'm leaning toward AZ because I have family there still. I live in NM now and there are no LB surgeons out here.

I haven't heard of Dr. Schlesinger (but that's only because I'm still new to this) so I was glad to hear mrsebg and fletcher97701 are both happy with him and his staff. Do either of you know how many LB surgeries he had performed? Or at least how I can go about finding this information myself?

I have new insurance now and I know LB is covered, but have no idea what to do next. I want to find a good doctor but also want to know he has lots of experience with LB.

Any help or information you may have would be greatly appreciated. :scared2:

Dr. Schlesinger has been doing this for like 13 years (I asked at my last appointment) and has an amazing record. Like I said, he's a straight shooter, but I think for me, that was helpful and has aided in my success. You should give them a call and see what you think... as with everything we all have our own oppinions and only you know who is best for you! Their number is (480) 968-6007.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
