dlh 0 Posted May 28, 2009 I had surgery 4 years ago, and stopped going to the doctor after six months. I have kept off the modest amount of weight I lost, but I have not lost more. I guess I quit going to the doctor because I felt I was failing at weight loss yet again. Things were going so slow. I lost only 20 lbs in six months. I felt that I was trying. Has anyone else had trouble like this? The only other banding patient in my area was easily losing twice what I was. I recognize that we had various differences but found this frustrating. kimaly 57 Posted May 28, 2009 If you quit going to the Doctor so soon I doubt you even had a chance to hit your sweet spot. Run back to your doctor and get back on track, You can do this. I know it's a lot of hard work but it's gonna be worth it in the long run. And please try to remember it most likely took a lot longer then 6mo. to put the weight on and it's gonna take more then 6 mo. to get it off. I notice this is your first post, Just stay on the board and I'm sure you'll find it easier with the help of people that are going through the same thing you are. You've already taken the first step by asking for support. Good luck to you. OH! and don't judge your loss by someone else try to remind yourself slow and steady wins the race. silvers320 12 Posted May 28, 2009 For Encouragement - just look at this site and look at the number of successful people on here! Next, consider that with the internet you can connect with someone no matter your location, age, etc. That's encouragement. Call your doctor and maybe a theraptist to discuss the mental part - which I think many (myself included) downplayed the importance off. Good Luck
Sue Magoo 71 Posted May 28, 2009 Hi: I'm not sure where I read it, probably WLS magazine. It said that the more the surgeon's see the lapband patients the more they lose. So, please go and see your surgeon and tell him that you'd like to check to make sure your band is where it should be. You may be able to tell by the quantity of food you can eat in one meal. If you can eat more than a cup of food you're probably not tight enough. I hope things improve for you. I love my band. Sue

Big Momma is Shrinking 0 Posted May 28, 2009 Don't give up on yourself, you deserve better then that!!! There is a bandster on here, I think her name is Kellibelly who didn't not reach her goal for 3yrs.....please don't throw your hands up and say "oh well I failed again" I totally agree you should make an appointment to see your surgeon and get back on track. You went to the expense and effort to get the band in the first place, don't you think you should make it work for you. I'm sorry you don't have any local support to turn to, but we are all just a mouse click away and I truely believe everyone on here wants to see you suceed. I know I do!!! ~Monica
