Hi Catherine,

Nice to have you join us. I'm in the Seattle area too. Hey, if you ever need an exercise buddy let me know, I've been looking for someone to exercise with. I'm getting tired of walking by myself.

Vines-

You know what my hubby says about the Eastside...It's where the beautiful people live. You know, out jogging in the morning or walking the dog before they're off to the day spa. Hope you know I'm soooo kidding. However, I do have a friend who just bought a house over there for nearly a million, and while she was decorating she told one of the painter's "don't spend too much time on this, this is not my dream house".

That's us exactly! Your DH must have seem me since i"m one of the beautiful people! well, not really, I don't jog, but I do jiggle! I don't take my poor old dog for walks any more, at this point it's more a hobble... he sometimes takes a nap on his way to the dinner bowl... In all fairness he will be 16 this year... and for a Lab that's .... beyond belief! oooh love the day spa too.

But now I'm stuck in Exile... *sigh* SE ID is nothing like the Eastside....

SallyKotz is from the Seattle area too!

Way to go Catherine, Good luck! I was banded August 24, 2005 and I'm still feeling great. I have found this web site to be a great place to visit daily. Pam

Count me in for that!

There's the Seattle Bandster bash this winter, and regular Soup nights all over; don't forget to join the Yahoo group PNW_Bandsters for info on get togethers.

Welcome welcome!! I'm over in Idaho. I will keep a close eye on the events because I always need a good excuse to come play on Pike Street!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
