Fill Doctor in the Baltimore Area

Recommended Posts

I had my lapband surgery in Detroit but I live near Baltimore. I am having a very difficult time finding a doctor who will do a fill without also having performed the surgery as well. I have found some leads in going through these forums, but am hoping that someone may have some more current information. Thanks to everyone in advance.

Steve

Steve,

I'm not sure where you've tried, but here's the area hospitals(off the top of my head) that do the surgery. Hopefully someone will take you.

Johns Hopkins- Bayview

St. Agnes

UMMS - Baltimore

GBMC

Sinai Hospital

Shady Grove (Bethesda,MD)

Good Luck!

Thanks for the info, Linda. The information that I have on UMMS is that they do not do gastric banding yet, only by-pass surgery.

Try Dr. Susan Brinkley she is in Frederick Md. I was banded in Mexico and she fills me!

Hello! I will be getting banded 7/8/09...and have been calling EVERYWHERE to find a doctor that will see me after.... (sucks that most wont if you were banded outside the US!)

Anywhoo.... My contact at OCC in Mexico and gave me a listing of a few that DO take patients that were banded in Mexico and Susan Brinkley, MD 301-668-2800 IS one of them. I called and there is NO initial fee (which most do) and a fill is $200 and an unfill is $150.

Dr. Barry Green, 9707 Medical Center Drive #200, Rockville, MD 20850 www.advancedwls.com

I called there yesterday...and there is a $210 one time fee, plus $150 for fills and unfills

I havent called this one yet, but this is the info I got from OCC:

Dr. David Von Rueden, Catonsville, MD - 410-368-3003 - $775 program fee, $250 fill, xray is available

(A tad pricey for me since I am self-pay, but he does use xray..)

Hope that helps!!!

Good Luck!!

Agnes :)

Just banded 3 days ago and was doing well until today. It seems I have no restriction today. Scared that this may not work. I just got back from Mexico and I feel like I already failed. You think a fill will work? I just got the numbers from the post above though I live in northern Virginia. Please help.

Thanks

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
