I've seen mention of this tool and wondering if I *need* it???

Is it used mostly for smoothies? I have a Vita-Mix and it's super easy to use and to clean ----- do I really need a Magic Bullet?

thanks for your help

I don't know - I've wondered too. I have a kitchenaid blender and food processor. Magic Bullets are on sale at costco right now -I looked the other day but thought it was one more gadget I don't need. One thing I did buy was a "blender ball" cup to mix up Protein Shakes on the go - it is awesome!!

Ok so if you own a vitamix why would you even consider buying an inferior blender? Vitamix is the only blender you need IMO

I have the majic bullet and as far as mixing goes I think it puts too much air bubbles into the mix hence you continuously burp. I would stick to the vitamix.

Honestly, too, you will be blending things for only a short time. I bought a little 3-cup kitchen aid food processor instead and love that little sucker! :crying:

My shakes were premixed, (the kind my doc recommended), I don't do "smoothies" etc (too much fruit and wasted calories) and the food processor blended the Soups and foods for mushies quite well!

(even my spaghetti and meat sauce. It looked odd but tasted marvelous!)

So no, you don't need a magic bullet. You don't really have to buy a blender at all if you don't want one.

I have a bullet and love it tremendously- I bought it before my surgery at the reccomendation of a friend who was banded 5 years ago and swears by it.

Up until I was on solid's I used it literally every day multiple times a day- I still use it for smoothies and for after a fill to make a mushie something...

I also us it for dips and eggs- makes it easier to mix things-

I am not familiar with a vita mix- I had a regular blender but it was very cumbersome and with the bullet it is idiot proof not to get the proper oz when making something....

I have to admit I read this and I busted out laughing.... Please save your money. I used to own a coffee shop. The Vita-mix is a kick A$$ blender. Most likely will last you your life time.... I have one at home and make smoothies all the time for the kids. (I had 3 of them and sold them for $275 each when we closed down)

My husband thought he was smart and bought that magic bullet (he works for Costco) Thinkin it was cute and to save space blah blah blah LOL ... I burned that sucker out after 6 drinks. ( we like our smoothies thick with ice!) needless to say I sent that thing back!

If you need replacement parts the company I dealt with and still do is EverGreen Trade ( in CA) 1 800 422 7980. They have great customer service and prices are great as well. Most likely you have a $400 model. Don't give it up for the world! You have a winner!

Just for the record, from the other side of the crowd, I have a Magic Bullet and LOVE it! I have had mine for about 7 years and it is so easy to use. I love the fact that I can blend anything, flip it over, throw a drink ring on it, and I am good to go. I also make single serving salsa, chicken salad, tuna salad, etc in it. It is great for just about anything and pops right into the microwave for heating.

It is not a must have but it is definitely not a waste.

hi

i ran out and bought a magic bullet when i was banded because everyone on this site talked about it.

i never stopped using my basic hamilton blender.

i gave the magic bullet to my niece and she loves it to make baby food for her baby

so i think it's a good appliance.....one of many

cool we can compare notes as to how "doped up we are" Just remember not to use your fist as the tamper in that Kick A$$ blender OKAY! ;o)

I don't have my surgery date yet... I am on a 3 month hold. I am guessing end of July begining of Aug. Maybe I will have a date when I go in for the pre-op I need to talk to the nutritionalist 2 more times (on the phone). I got an packet from her via email and have asked her questions and she has answered. She has been quick to respond... so for that I am thankful.

Hey ya'll I think the magic bullet is great for things like salsa, baby food, small occasional jobs... Ice however... or frozen fruit mmmmmm NOPE. At least not in the quantities I prepare. I made 4 kids smoothies this afternoon... so I did about a 40 ounce thick drink FAST. I wouldn't trade the vita- mix for the world.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
