Do you gain on liquids after fill?

Recommended Posts

I had my 3rd fill yesterday and was on liquids all day yesterday and again today. My issue is, every time I go on liquids I gain 1-3 pounds. Does this happen to anyone else? I am sure it is Water weight, but I am curious if this happens to many people.

I noticed I was very bloated for the first 1-2 days after my fill (tight pants, rings won't fit) but then it went away.

My guess is that it's not so much the liquid diet as the mild abdominal trauma that tightening the band represents.

I purposely didn't weigh myself until today, and my fill was Thursday 5/21.

Good luck!

After both of my fills, I lost 5 pounds quickly. I guess all of our bodies are different and with women it probably depends on when you have it done!!

No, I don't. That's when I lose the BEST...right after a fill. Had one 4 days ago and I've lost 4 pounds. Last fill I lost 13 pounds in 3 weeks before it settled down to the "norm" of 1 or 2 pounds a week. And - surprise, surprise - it didn't go back up in a couple days either.

I normally lose weight immediately after a fill. You've done very well with weight loss. Keep up the good work!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
