I still need to shop for Vitamins, Protein, liquids, pajamas/lounge wear for the hospital/hotel. I need tips on what you were comfortable in after surgery. I don't want to make the mistake of wearing something that will irritate the incisions. Someone said a sports bra vs underwire. Ummm...I'm thinking this will be a good excuse not to have to wear one at all...lol!

Had a long conversation with Judy tonight (Dr. Zapata's representative) and found out she lived here in Jax and her sister's husband was military. I live right across from the base. He family member is a sheriff's officer a couple of cities away. I told her I was going to name drop if I ever got pulled over there. She said tell him Judy will be upset and they will listen. Nice, comfortable conversation. Makes me feel more comfortable with my choice. I hope I still have this confidence come next week!

I didn't wear a bra the entire time I was in the hospital. But then again, I never wear one at home. I am not overly endowed in that area.

the incisions really aren't high up where a bra would irritate them. I do have one tiny one right between my boobs that's about a half inch or less. the rest are in the middle of my stomach.

Hi Good luck for your op. I didn't wear a bra whilst in hospital but for travelling and for the 1st 2 weeks post op I wore a big comfy sports bra. Even so I still could not keep it on all day in the early times. I take a 44 G and it frightens the horses and hurts my knees if I go out without a bra on

lol...I was not as blessed in that area. I could get away without wearing one if I have on a loose shirt or a tank underneath.

OK, so where exactly are the incisions? I heard some people say they have 2 and others say up to 5. I guess O should ask Dr. Zapata or if any Zapata sleevers read this maybe they can tell me.

Hi Hayley, I don't regard them as a blessing, more an extra load to carry around

I had my op done in Czech Republic so it may be different. I have a central entry an inch below the bra line between my breasts, and then 4 more dotted across my tummy equi-distant between the top one and my navel.

Cheers

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
