Will be banded soon!

Hi all from southeast Texas.

I've recently been approved for a Care Credit card that will allow me to pay for lapband. I am going through True Results in Houston TX (True Results | Lap Band Surgery & Bariatric Weight Loss Procedure Center). I'm still debating on the doctor, but have leaned significantly towards Dr. Hadar Spivak. Everyone seems to think highly of him.

I "trolled" on here for a little while as I was deciding if I should, where I should go to, etc. There is a tremendous amount of information to be had here.

I figured it was time to register.

Looking forward to talking and learning from everyone

Hi Arsonal. Welcome!! This site is wonderful - a great place to read, ask, and vent. I've made some very good friends here. I had my surgery done at True Results in Houston. Dr. Hollis did my surgery and I love him - but I'm sure all of the doctors there are great. I've had nothing but positive experiences at TR and I'm so glad that I chose to have my surgery done there. I had to fly 750 miles to have it done (and live through Hurricane Ike), and I fly there for my fills. I'm sure you will be very happy with True Results. Good luck to you!!! Becky

Thanks for the welcome. I had my first consultation today, the one with just the staff - no doctor. I was pleased with how things went as far as the staff was concerned. There is an abnormality on my EKG, so I have to schedule with a local cardiologist for a stress test.

sharonjimmy95, you should be able to go to tickerfactory.com, pick one, and I think it normally gives you the "code" or text for it. You edit your profile, and put it as your signature.

Welcome Arsonal and edeeformell!

I had to do a stress test too - wasnt a big deal at all, just seemed like one more thing to check off before I could get my surgery. I was actually glad they did all the tests - it had been a long time since I had seen a doctor, so I wanted them to check for everything possible.

I have met a lot of wonderful people on here and they have truly helped me!

Glad to see some new Houston-area members!

My daughter went to Dr. Spivak out of the same group I think. She loved him, no real pre-op diet, very low key, no big deal. Post op diet was relatively short also. You're in good hands.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
