My question for today is a pretty simple one so here goes. I was wondering is anyone out there in bandland is having the same problem I am having. My problem: I am barely able to eat anything during the day. I try to eat a really late Breakfast at noon. 8 out of 10 times, I can't eat. I can get down a few bites of something like oatmeal or grits but that is all. I start feeling like my food is getting stuck and it makes me feel as if I am about to throw up. So, I stop eating. About half an hour after I stop, I end up hungry again. I hold off until dinner time which is usually around 4 and again, I can take a few bites of food and it feels like it is getting stuck and I am going to throw up so I stop eating. Around half an hour later, I feel hungry again. Most of the time I hold out until around 7 or 8 and try eating either something like cream of chicken or a pack of my 100 calorie Cookies or chips. I have noticed that around 8 my band is finally loose enough that I can eat without getting stuck. After I finish my bag of cookies or crackers or cream of chicken, I stay hungry until I go to sleep but I don't act on the hungry.

I would love to be able to eat during the day and not have to wait until 8 at night to be able to do so without having the stuck feeling.

Anyone else out there have the same problem? If so, what do you do about it?

It could be mucus. Have you tried sipping something warm in the mornings? Some coffee or hot tea? If it's mucus it could just be taking all day for that to break up n let u eat. If that doesn't work, u may be too tight.

Sounds like you are too tight! Please talk to your surgeon and discuss. A common misconception amongst bandsters is that the 'tighter the better', and as your food log will tell us, it isn't true! Cream of chicken, 100 calorie Cookies will not sustain your nutritional needs, you will go into starvation mode and not lose.

Call your surgeon today, as you should be able to eat regular food on a regular basis! Just not a lot of it!

Good luck! Keep us posted!

Sounds like you are too tight! Did this just start happening after your 5th fill? From your signature, it seems like your 4th fill was the right place for you.

A common misconception is that the 'tighter the better' - unfortunately this is not true, as if you are too restricted you eat the wrong foods, and or don't get enough nutritional foods in.

Call your surgeon and discuss what is going on.

A lot of us are tighter in the morning than the rest of the day, and for some it's very restrictively tight. Drinking hot tea or coffee in the AM helps a lot of people. I drink a Protein Shake for breakfast, which accommodates being tighter in the AM AND the fact that I rush around trying to get myself out the door every morning. On the weekends, I often fix runny grits and a cup of hot tea and then later eat an egg.

Don't forget you are suppose to focus on Protein first. Try drinking a Protein Shake for breakfast and perhaps Soup or something soft for lunch.< /p>

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
