I am trying to increase my exercise (banded April 16) as I got the go ahead from my dr. He said to wait four weeks. So yesterday I tried jogging. I got this new game for my wii called eas active. Well part of the 30 day challenge (I put it on the easiest level) requires some jogging. I did it the last two days. Today I feel very sore in the port area. I am really bummed and hope this is only a temporary thing and that eventually I will be able to run again. I am assuming/hoping that it just isn't healed 100% and made it tender. It is by no means terribly painful just sore like I felt about 8 days after surgery. So I am thinking I need to lay off the jogging and give myself a few days and if it still hurts call the dr- I don't think I damaged anything permanent. Anybody out there jogging and how soon were you able to do it?

I was banded on 4/16 too...I started exercising the day after surgery, but primarily walking...sometimes you have to crawl before you walk! Take it easy...on the bouncy stuff...walk fast and up inclines to get that heart rate up, but don't jump around...

Hi, I was banded on April 15, and I was told by my doctor not to do anything jumping around or to much movement in the port area... until about 6weeks, because I am still healing, when I went to the dr on May 11th I speciafically asked him could I do anything exercises pertaining to the stomach area and he said no... to wait until about another 2 weeks.. Take it easy, you will be able to do anything you want in a couple more weeks... It's good you are able to run though, I haven't been able to run in years and I'm really looking forward to more weight loss so I can run in a 5k one day. when do you all go for your first fill? I go in on June 11th for mines.

Thanks for the responses- sounds like I need some more time. I am walking 2 miles a day so I think with the wii game I will focus on arm exercises for now. I already had my first fill but it was only .5 cc's which is really small I guess compared to what I have read that everyone else has received. I got that 4 weeks after surgery. My dr. offered 1 cc but I was so worried because I was really swollen after surgery so she said it would be best to be very conservative. I go back in two weeks and then two weeks and then two weeks- going to take it really slow but more frequent appts. Good luck at your fill it was really no big deal at all.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
