Indigestion or gas pressure is normal right after surgery. It should go away in a week or so...Try gasX.

I know my dr let me do cream of wheat during my mushy phase but check with your dr to see if it is okay for you.I did alot of cream Soups once I got to mushy stage... I did campels Soup alot but took out the noodles during full liquids.

Good luck with the start of your weight loss journey. Welcome to band land!

I loved Tomato Soup & actually still eat a lot of it. The cream Soups are also good. If you like avacados & your doc says you can have them, they were what brought me from the edge of boredom with the mushies. LOL! I mashed them up with a little lemon juice & garlic powder!!

I had my surgery on thursday too.

I made some cabbage Soup, and blended it, I have been drinking chicken broth, Tomato Soup, and red peper Tomato soup. A friend made me homeaid split pea, i bleanded and added checken broth. I have fruit pops and Jello, and pudding. I find my self a bit hungry and am eating when i feel like eating.

I have to slow down, as I eat to fast and get heart burn.

I was also banded on Thurs. (9/8). At this point I'm feeling like a newborn baby, having to eat every few hours!! Watery oatmeal and watery cream of wheat has been my savior during the full liquid stage.

i think what got me through liquids / mushies was instant mashed potatos.. u can buy a pouch of them for like a buck and it lasts FOREVER. You just add Water to it.. lots of it It should be running off the spoon... but it gave me the full feeling

All, please provide me with any suggestions of Soups to eat. Tomorrow starts my full liquid and it states Healthy choice soups. Does anyone eat baby food like rice? Does anyone have indigestion?

Healthy choice is a brand of soup.. could this be what they mean? they make many differnt kinds of soup.. just stay away from Tomato too much acid and you may get heartburn!!

The best things I enjoy are Jello sugarfree pudding (it's made with Splenda) and instant grits (yes, grits) made with skim milk and light butter with salt and pepper. These two things have been like manna from heaven to me. I was banded on Aug. 29, 2005, the day of Katrina. I have lost 21 pounds and have 122lbs. to go. Mederma 3x a day on the incisions works wonders!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
