Heart burn like pain since surgery

Recommended Posts

Is it normal to have a heart burn like pain nearly constantly. It usually only lasts 2-3 seconds but it is throughout the day. Usually when I burp or my stomach spasms a bit. It feels like soreness at the band site. It is starting to bother me 9 days post op. and i think perhaps that the pain meds i was taken up until 7 days post op were keeping it minimal and thats why i didnt notice it.

Its really really starting to bother me. I am thinking of going and taking some Extra Strenght Tylenol or something cause its hard to function being in pain all day.

Just a note its not constant pain and its not excruciating by any means its just a semi dull heartburn like pain at the bottom of my throat.

Any insight would be much appreciated!

I would definately call your doctor. I stopped taking the pain meds about day four and never experienced that pain but it is different for everyone. The only one who can tell you for sure is your doctor.

Good Luck.

I have the same problem. It just started today 5 days post op. I don't feel good at all. I also stopped taking my pain meds. I am going to go back on tonight when i get ready for bed. I have my first appt with my doctor on wednesday so I was going to talk to them to see whats up. I am on a nexium generic but i'm not sure if its working or if its something else.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
