Hi everyone! I am new here. After considering WLS for a few years now, I finally decided I wanted to do this. Something 'clicked' in my head and I just knew this was the right choice. I always held out thinking, 'if only I worked just a little bit harder on my diet'. But, after we being morbidly obese for the vast majority of 15 years, I decided I need some help! I am 36 years old, I have 8 year old twin boys. I was diagnosed with PCOS at the age of 20. I have about 110 lbs to lose. I can lose weight on my own, just can't keep it off for more than a few months at a time. I need help. I need to get off this roller coaster and be healthy.

I saw my family doctor May 5th and told her I wanted to do the banding. She supported my decision and wrote me a referral letter. I had already chosen a surgeon, she comes highly recommended by several people I work with. Her name is Robin Blackstone of Scottsdale Bariatric Center.

I had my seminar on May 17th. They called me for my 4 hour consultation appointment on the 19th. It is this coming Wednesday. I am very excited, nervous etc. I will see the psychologist, nutritionist, exercise physiologist and the physician's assistant during this appointment.

My husband isn't totally on board, but he told me this was my decision and he would support me. I am counting on that because I am going to need it!

Welcome, Congratulations! :wink2:

I go for my 4 hour appointment on June 5th and am told to have surgery dates in mind when I come! I'm nervous but so very excited to feel like I am in control this time and I will do it.... Good Luck to you!

Congrats, this surgery is definitely well worth it, I had mine on the 12th this month and although every now and then I have a nagging feeling in my head that makes me wonder whether this really was the best option for me I know it is. You'll find that people on here are extremely supportive as we all go through the same process at one stage or another. Good luck =)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
