Hello.... newbie here w/ date

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, I am from MD. closer to DC.

I just found out yesterday that I was approved by BC/BS fed.

and my band date will be June 12th. I am so happy:biggrin:.

it seems like it took forever but, it really did not. I met with Dr. Rickford April 15th. I had my cardiologist and physch. done within two weeks. Those were the only things I had to do.

Prior to getting my date I was put on the Protein diet because she said they should be hearing back from BC/BS soon, and he wanted me to lose 15 pounds prior to the surgery. I started on the 19th the first day was fine the next three was hell but I stuck with it and today I am doing great. I have not cheated and don't plan to. I have been using the Syntha-6 it is pretty good I started putting in the blender with soy milk and 4 ice cube. the serving size is 6oz. so by doing that it makes more like a shake without changing the servings.

I have already lose 9+ pounds I had gained 10 since meeting with him. I had my first weigh in at the office yesterday so at this rate I am sure it will be than 15. I have two and have weeks to go!!!!

Welcome tenater!

You will be a June bandster! Congrats! Let me point you to the 2009 June group, click the link here June 09 Bandsters - Lap Band Surgery and Lap Band Discussion Forum and hopefully it will take you to the June 2009 group.

If not, got back to the main forum page, scroll down until you see the monthly groups, click on 2009 and then you will see the months listed.

They are currently deciding on a name for your month and you can "weigh" in on it. I am a bunny bandster, banded in April. I have found tremendous support from my group. Welcome to the club, great job on your pre-band weight loss and I wish you the best of luck!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
