this is all I know

Recommended Posts

All I know about Dr.V is that he is leaving the practice the end of October.

That is all they told me.

Dr Z will be doing followups. My concern is the fills and complications.

Dr.V is the only one there that does the lapband. It is pretty scary to have the surgery and them the experienced doctor leave.

That is where my concerns. But then I know that so many people go to MX and other places.

Have any of you heard anything?

Dianne...I think we will all be ok. I am already starting a list of questions for Dr. V when I meet with him on the 19th. I know that there will be other doctors out there to help....I went and read some info on Dr. Zweng and his patients seem to be very happy with him. They have all said nice things and he seems to be a very caring doctor. I would say if you don't fill comfortable with the after care that's available I would check in with Dr. Bauman or the Dr. that Karen is going to meet at CMC. Maybe there are others out there that we don't know about. This is a life changing event and while I haven't had any troubles I can't say you want. I think of Kathy that had hers done in Mexico and what is something happened to her? I am very said Dr. V is leaving but I think I will be in good care in Dr. Z's hands...well that is what I am hoping for.

I wish you the best of luck I know your desicion is tough!!! I am here for you!!!

Thanks Kim,

I wonder if there is a seminar this week at the hospital we could go to and then talk to DrZ and the other 2 Dr.s

I really want to meet DrZ. I liked the PA VERY much that I saw the day I went to meet DrV. He made me feel very comfotable.

I am in a hard place with insurane DrB doesn't take my type. And CMC is not covered either.

I hope everyone will still be in the support group with us.

You know God has lead me to do this from the beginnig. I know it is in hands hands. But like you I still want answers. As far as the cruise goes, I'm going to check and see if we can't change the date for a few weeks later. Either way with that I know I will be surrounded by prayer.

Thanks so much everyone, for being there!

Dianne,

Could you wait a few days and do the research with Dr V leaving before you rescheduled your cruise? Maybe they will have better information and availablity soon. I know our insurance coverages can update providers during the year so maybe this would work in your favor.

I would think if you have a date set, then the practice would honor it. However, if you are getting lapband I could see where this would be a problem for fills.

Jennifer

My fill doc in Winston-Salem (Dr Gonazales) is a weight loss surgeon and does all of the surgeries but does NOT do the Lap Band yet. He gives fills for bandsters and happily gives them for MX bandsters. He offers flouro at the local hospital, if needed or wanted. It costs more but it's available.

I say this so that you won't worry about getting fills at Presby. Any trained doc can give fills. If they (the practice) are cleared by Inamed, then Inamed will sell them their special very expensive non-coring needles that are about 3 feet long (total exaggeration). I'm sure the other weight loss surgeons can fill a band. If the doc is educated about the band, then he/she can give good band care. Just make sure that now that you are banded, you have the follow-along care you need. It may not have to be a Band doc.

THANKYOU! Kahty, I needed to hear that!

My emotions are on a 10 right now! I hope it goes down before the surgery!

Jennifer, I think I'm stuck with the cruise date. We are going with other people. But someone suggested looking into buying insurance for medical on the cruise. I'm going to look into it tomorrow.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
