Hi, I want to see if maybe someone could assist me with something. I went to Dr. Bobby's seminar back in the spring and was all for everything he said and I really think that he would be an awesome doctor to do the surgery that I need done, BUT..at the end of the seminar he said that up front they would have to have $6 to $8 thousand dollars out of pocket??>.I am just wondering if I heard this right?? I have Triwest insurance and am approved by them to have the surgery because of my BMI and diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesterol problems..but if I have to come up with that much money up front I am not going to be able to do the surgery and then what's next???...please if someone can help me with this and hopefully tell me that I heard it wrong..thanks for your time.

Yes Kathryn

Dr Bobby has a big program fee - but you never have to pay for any co-pays or fills for 5 yrs (that's what I was told)

IMHO it's his way around what the insurance companies pays and he also gives you the food for the preop diet in that program fee..

He has a nutristion on staff and you visit with her everytime you go in - Dr Bobby does your fills not an assistant - and he sits and talks to you and listens - it's not just a 5 minutes in and out with him....

I LOVE DR BOBBY - he is worth every extra penny that you have to pay... You can get care credit to pay the program fee (loan) ...

Also for me having a local doctor was very important... You get his cell # incase you have any problems you have 24/7 access to him personally...

There are other doc's out there who don't charge the program fee - Dr Philllip Q somthing - he's in LA and I didn't want to travel that far to get fills and ck ups as that would be a whole day off of work..

Again you can get a loan thru the Care Credit (I think that's the name) and what isn't paid by insurance is tax deductible too

Again like I said Dr Bobby is worth his weight in GOLD AND EVERY PENNY WAS WORTH IT...

Good Luck - Talk to them - They will help you figure out a way..

Janet

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
