I want to lick things...

Recommended Posts

So I have this wierd desire. I can't imagine actually eating anything because I am still in post-op pain, but I really want the flavor of tastiness on my mouth...mmm...a cheeseburger popsicle...

Anyways, can we eat those sugar-free chocolate popsicles or are we supposed to stick to fruit popsicles?

Thanks!

I ate some sugar free fudgsicles.

I discovered by accident that I do not miss hamburgers per se ..... it's that Heinz 57 sauce I always put on mine, LOL. Just like Jimmy Buffet says "I like mine with lettuce and Tomato, Heinz 57 ..." So I ate some Heinz 57 on some grilled chicken and got my taste of Heinz 57 AND it helped with the dryness of that particular piece of chicken!

For me, the cheese is what makes the burger. I am only 3 days post-op, so not on solids yet. At what point did you start eating the fudgcicles? I'm getting tired of tea, apple juice, crystal ice, and jello... Sigh.

Post op I couldn't have any popsicles; you're safest to check with your surgeon. My first week post op I could have broth, Water, and well, broth.

I had the same desire during the first couple weeks post-op. I actually chewed a few bites of Pasta, chicken and bread and them spit them out. This temptation passed once I was able to eat soft foods.

Good luck to you!

I guess every doctor is different, when I was post-op I ate sugar-free fudge pops, chewed a piece of steak but spit of the meat(excuse the descrip). I am 1 month post-op and my doctor put me on liquids two wks, mushies 1wk, soft foods now. but I eat the same foods that I ate before surgery, also cooked alittle different. My first fill is tues, so I figured that I'll eat what I can now (in moderations, low fat, smaller portions) I haven't gain any extra weight just maintaining the 20lbs losed so far..But my doctor doesn't stress the weight loss yet..because it's not about the loss..just the healing of the liver, stomach, body and mind....

So in my opinion(mine only) I believe that you should give into a craving (small portions) if not then you'll be more inclined to eat the whole portion of what your craving...ex: suck on a hersey kiss if you want a whole chocolate bar

Thats so funny! When I was in the preop diet stage for 3 week, it was the toughest for me! I actualy wanted a ritz cracker so bad that I chewed it up (after my husband went to bed) and spit it out! It was shamefull now that I look back at it, b/c I was so sneaky about it. I wasn't even hungry- I just wanted it!

I had a huge problem with the Isopure too. I was in a great deal of pain for the first week and then one day it just disappeared. Hang in there it will get better. I have no suggestions regarding the isopure. The floaties in it totally grossed me out. You just have to get it down. The next phase is much easier to deal with. Hang in there!

I'm not on any Protein shakes until next week...this week is all about broth and juice.

I did eat some popsicles last night and scared myself a little...you can still overeat on food even with the band...have to watch that and not go so gung-ho on the popsicles the next time around!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
