Weight Watchers and the Band

Recommended Posts

I have been banded for 7 months and was thinking about doing Weight Watchers. Has anyone tried this? I was just wondering because my dietition said that I needed to be between 12-16 points and my friend, who is doing Weight Watchers, said that is not enough to keep you going everyday. I would appreciate anyone's input!

Not sure if your friend is banded but if he/she is not, then what they need would be more than what you will need with the Lap Band. Either way, go by what what your dietician says.

I use some of weight watchers techniques now. See how many pints weight watchers says that you can have at your weight in comparision to what your dietition is telling you. 12-16 points does seem low but you will not probably mot need the points alotted by weight watchers either.

Using WW techniques just seem to keep me on track. Good luck!

i loved ww's ...it was a really good program for me before i was banded, havent tried it since. if you were told to consume 12 to 16 pts per day...thats 600 to 800 calories a day. the calorie count is different for folks that are banded from those that arent, obviously we cant consume as much food. so, this amount of calories might work for you. good luck!!

600 to 800 seems awfully low to me - even with the band... but best to do what your dietician says. GOOD LUCK with that. I think WW is a great program. Becky

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
