Ive noticed alot of people beating themselves up about the amount of weight they've lost so far in there weight loss jouney. I've been guilty of this myself alot lately. And some of us have already lost 40,60 and some even a 100 pounds already. I was putting away groceries yesterday. Well I was putting away a 5lb bag of sugar. Realized how heavy it was. I realized that In just a few months i'd lost the equivalent of over 7 of those bags. It made me really proud of myself. It made me realize that no this isn't happening over night but yes it is really happening. So I guess my point is as long as were trying and losing and no matter at what pace were gonna get there. That every pound lost gets me 1 step closer to where I wanna be. We all need to be proud of ourselves and what we've accomplised so far.

It's a good feeling to visualize something separate from yourself like that and know that you have removed that from your body. I saw a lady in the grocery store years ago stacking up boxes of butter. They way 1 pound each. People were looking at her funny so she said, "You see, I've lost 24 pounds and I just wanted to SEE what 24 pounds looks like".

Congratulations on your 35 boxes of butter or 7 bags of sugar.......

you are so right!

the last few days, picking up my toddler, i thought, wow, you are getting heavy to pick up!

guess how much he weighs? about 32 pounds. i have lost 38 pounds!

if i had that weight still on, i would be carrying around MORE than him!

now to lose HIM PLUS my 24 pound 20 month old! lol

I've lost 70 pounds so far and on one of my "down" days, my husband said, hey you've lost the equivalent of a kindergartener. It made me laugh and feel better immediately.

You are so right. I have to remove myself from the day-to-day weigh ins and look at what i'm losing each month. I've lost 10 lbs since Easter. By the end of summer I will probably be down 20 more pounds.

Great point. I did the butter thing myself at 13 pounds. I went to Walmart, put 13 boxes of butter in the seat of the grocery cart and walked up a quiet isle staring at them, wrapping my brain around losing that much of myself. At 25#, I'd like to pick up a bag of cat food, but I still won't be allowed to lift that much by then. :-)

it's nice to see us patting ourselves on the backs and being proud of our accomplishments instead of beating ourselves up for not losing fast enough. ladies we all look great!

I haven't been banded yet (June 25 for me) but I try to keep in mind that even 1/4 lb = a stick of butter!

Continued good luck and health in your journey

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
