Favorite Band Friendly Fast Food Go To

Recommended Posts

I was out driving around this evening passing a long strip of Fast food locations and could not help thinking what each one of them had that was band friendly enough for me to eat. I have always loved Burger King but I know I will never be ordering a Whopper with cheese Meal again. I now get my flame-broiled fix with a two pack of BK Shots.

What are some of you guys favorite go to spots?

I can't eat bread anymore, so burgers and sandwichs are out for me. I like Wendy's and Zaxby's salads. But you have to be careful with the calories and especially the dressing. I also can't eat fries any more either, not sure why, but they don't agree with me. So I eat very little fast food now. I do sometimes go to Mcdonalds and get a grilled chicken sandwich and take the meat off the bread and I'll eat a parfait. Other than that, there's not much fast food I can eat anymore.

Not eating much junk food anymore was an important part of my weight loss journey.

However it's fine to indulge yourself sometimes. The once or twice a month that I give in and get junk food, I'll usually get a Taco Bell taco or maybe some boneless fried chicken strips.

If I'm just not feeling like cooking, my go-to quick meal is a can of Progresso or Chunky Soup. It's super cheap, I can nuke it in 3 minutes, it always goes down easy and it has some veggies in it.

Another option is to buy the frozen pre-formed burger patties, either beef or turkey. You can go direct from the freezer onto a gas grill or into a frying pan and they're ready to eat in a few minutes. I just throw some seasoning on it while it's cooking, put the patty on a plate and squirt some relish, mustard and ketchup on it. Still quicker and cheaper than getting in the car and driving to McD's and back, tastes way better too.

My favorite "band friendly" fast food is a naked burrito at Qdoba. (no tortilla and served in a bowl) I ask them to hold the rice and limit the cheese and sour cream. It's very tasty as well a pretty good food choice. High in Protein and low in carbs, maybe a little high in fat, but WTF; there aren't many band friendly fast foods out there.

I love both Wendy's chili and Taco Time's chicken chili. A small Wendy's chili with crackers, cheese, and onions is a very satisfying for me. And the calories go down without the crackers and cheese.

Once in awhile I'll have a burger without the bun or with just half a bun.

Mostly I try not to eat fast food because I have to fight myself to make good choices there. And because fries and Buns and pizza have gotten stuck way too often to be appealing...

Not banded yet, but we recently tried the KFC Grilled chicken and it was really good. Tasty and juice (I had dark meat) and I think from what I hear that will be acceptable after surgery once I heal and start solid foods.

Also, El Pollo Loco is supposed to have really yummy chicken and maybe a few other things that might work.

My last thing is the Japanese place at the mall food court... they have wonderful teriyaki chicken and I'd just get it without rice.

(I have no idea what else right now, but I think non-breaded chicken will feature pretty big in my future. LOL)

Don't eat Long John Silvers. They have a new baked menu, and it is horrible. The salmon was dry, but coated in crappy stuff, and everything was terrible tasting. Total waste, Long John Silvers is desperately trying to figure out a way to make money, but they are just too lousy at anything other then fried food.< /p>

I tried the KFC grilled chicken. It was good, just a little too greasy. I never could eat Long John Silvers even before being banded. It always made me sick. We don't have one where I live anymore. They closed down. Captain D's has pretty good shrimp.

I really don't eat too much fast food. I do love wendys small chili... low in fat and high in Protein. Go to thedailyplate.com and u can look at all the nutritional values of your favorite places and make good choices. Now when I know im going out to eat, I hit the computer first, and then I find what is appealing to me and what is the best for me. I never feel deprived or guility either. Just remember that the calories are for a whole whatever, and the chances of us bandsters eating the whole of anything is remote. most of my meals last me two or three meals!!!

enjoy all!!

You would think chicken would be a good food choice, but I have not found it to be so. After two fills (banded Feb24th 09) I find chicken gets stuck too often to be a good choice. I try and go for fish more often and that rarely gets stuck. My doctor said that chicken at home boiled for a while is a much better choice than anything you can get out. My favorite food right now? Salmon! Who would have thought it? I was such a die hard pizza lover!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
