sunsett 2 Posted September 10, 2005 Kim, I can't wait to see Dr V, but I'd like to meet Dr.Z to ask him questions. As far as slippage, doesn't that happen in the very begining? I know I will be a whimp with eating for a long time. I hate the thought of the side effects. Thanks for the support, everyone, Kim your a big help thanks for talking yesterday. I am scared, couldn't sleep much last night. I just really want to know that someone will be there for us if we ever need replacement, or slippage. AHHHH I guess it is time to change my date below huh...
choldren 0 Posted September 10, 2005 Diane, I'd say go for it if you can resist eating alot of the wonderful food on board. By then you should be off of your liquid diet. This is some info on another surgeon that's in Concord NC, which isn't far out of Charlotte. His name, address and contact info is : ROC W. BAUMAN, MD 1090 VINEHAVEN DR. NE CONCORD, NC 28025 CAROLINA WEIGHT LOSS SURGERY 704-786-5700 Here is a link where you can read testimonials from former lap-band patients: http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidob...uman+fmd.ht ml I don't know him personally but he's a Dr. that I came across when I was doing lap band surgery research. I live in VA, my daughter lives in Charlotte. Good luck, Carolyn
gordonfamily3 0 Posted September 10, 2005 Dianne you are so sweet...I know your mind has to be racing. I know mine is and I have already had surgery...it's the questions I have to get answered will make me feel alot better about everything. I just know that we will be in good hands...I am going to get a fill on the 19th because I think I need one and I might just call there and ask if Dr. Z can be there or even if he can do it with Dr. V so I know. I am sure Dr. Z will do them under fluro until he is better at them. And how knows he may even learn more about the lap band and start doing them himself!!!! Good luck try to have fun and not worry to much about it....
"with the band" 1 Posted September 10, 2005 I am going on a cruise in a week and I have been told they have ensure Protein Drinks available if you ask pre-boarding. They will also puree for you and they make wonderful cream Soups that you will be able to have and they have sugar free ice creams and sorbets...they will do anything if you just ask them. Have fun.....make sure you have meds and get trip insurance in case you have medical emergency while out of the country. It would be worth it at this stage I believe. I got it for myself and I had surgery 7/25/05. Take care, nancy
Micheala 0 Posted September 11, 2005 I think I would wait to have the surgery until after the trip. While everything will probably be fine as a nurse minor complications turn into problems if not treated right away. Enjoy your cruise (and the food). I was banded on 8/24/05 and am hoping to cruise in December. By that time I should be well healed physically and emotionally. Although I do have to confess that I wonder how a cruise could be fun without being able to eat endlessly. Micki
