I was banded on March 4th and have lost 75lbs! Which is awesome, I love it but about a week ago I developed a mildly discomfortable feeling down in my esophagus. I'ts hard to pinpoint a specific incident that brought it on but I think it developed after I took a bite of something that was too hot and instead of spitting it out I swallowed it without chewing. I called my docs office and they asked if I was having trouble keeping food down, I said no and they said then theres nothing to worry about.

I have had a few random quick chest pains too but they are rare and I'm not discounting nerves and my worriesome thinking as the contributor to this. I go for a followup on Thursday but in the meantime thought I'd ask if anyone has any experience with this.

Sorry Pat, I've experienced nothing like that. Good that you have a follow up soon, though. Be persistant if you're still having this sensation when your appt. comes up. Good luck!

Is it a persistent pain close to your sternum (between your breasts)? I have had that.

Thankfully, I haven't had that feeling yet, or been stuck. My surgeon told me if I ever feel anything "different", to go an liquids for a few days (3 minimun). That way, if there is any type of blockage, I won't make it worse. If by the time I get back to solids, I still don't feel right, he'll get me in for an appt.

Just a suggestion.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
