I was really naughty today...

I had 1/2 a polony sandwhich. it was DELICIOUS! I only had a 1/4 at a time...Surprisingly it went down fine and I haven't felt ill or had any problems though which is good - i guess. I did make sure that I chewed and chewed until it became liquidy before I swallowed though. I am only supposed to be starting mushy food on Thursday - not tomorrow but the next day...so now I'm feeling guilty. :purplebananna:

What sort of foods did you all eat when on the "soft and mushie" foods?? or more so....what couldn't you eat?? (pretty much everything I can think of can "turn" mushy if it's chewed enough times before swallowing but I don't know if I should be thinking that way :Banane01: lol)

I ate refried Beans with ff sour cream and cheddar a lot. I also ate chicken salad that I made using the food processor. I used my food processor to mush up chili, stew, steak and gravy, you name it. My food processor was my best friend during the mushy stage.< /p>

You are looking at it (the mushy food part). the same way I did... I have been fine and been losing weight. (Insert "I am not a doctor claim here")

I think the critical thing is the 4-5 oz at a time... Naturally regardless of what you eat (just dont be drinkin' milkshakes, etc.) you are going to lose weight at 3 meals a day at 4-5 oz.

People sometimes say, "Oh my God, you need more food, its so unhealthy". My answer is, "So was being 359 lbs!"

Sounds like you are doing great - just be careful and stop at the slightest sign of being full! When were you banded?

my favorite was the blended beef masaman and white rice from the local Thai restaurant - tender beef with LOTS of sauce!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
