Does anyone else have this problem? I am a very short person, 5'3", and I have a very very snort waist. There's really not a whole lot of room from my bottom rib down to my belly, etc. I feel like my port is constantly nudging my ribs. If I bend down I can feel it. I can't sit with my elbows on my knees because it feels like something is hitting my ribs. If I slouch while sitting at all it feels like something is bumping my ribs.

I go on Thursday for my first fill so going to ask them about it but was curious if anyone else has had this.

YES -!

i'm short as well 5'1 & even w/a low profile port.....it's STILL an annoyance several months out. i joke to my dr that i want it re-positioned to my butt since that's the last holding spot for weight...while he laughed it's a no go.

I know this isn't any consulation, but I got to pick my port postion. I asked a lot of people here before chosing my spot (sounds like where yours is...between my ribs and belly line, but far enough down that my ribs can't really catch it, and I have to sleep on my right side so placement was important). I drew a porthole on my tummy to mark the spot for surgery (read HERE). I've noticed while gardening and bending a lot this week that my port is still sore, and I hurt it a few times bending so far...so maybe yours won't bother you once it heals completely. I'd ask your surgeon if this will continue to be a problem as I've heard things tighten up as you lose weight and tissue forms around the port sutures, so maybe it will get better. It could be worse...there are many here who told me they woke up to a 'third boob' on their breastbone! (Read HERE. Or if your a man LOOK there LOL.).

band groupie -

while you were able to pick your port position - it may not stay there.

my port was a bit below to the left of my belly button - it's now 4 inches higher and is right in the way of my sports bra. as a short waisted person * and i say that meaning i can take my hand put my thumb under my breasts and my pinkie touches my belly button.* it's an anatomy problem w/the port according to my dr that happens w/many short / and short waisted individuals.

while you lose weight the port changes position in some. and going on 1.5yrs it's never been comfortable - it's exposed * i just deal.

It moved 4 inches! Holy cow! I've heard the placement feels different as you lose weight and your abdominal muscles tighten up, but if it's sutured to the abdominal wall how can it move 4 inches?! I guess I'll have to wait to see what happens. I don't carry most of my weight in the abdomen so I can feel the port now easily, and I'm almost 5'9" and not short waisted...like you said, if it moves, I'll just have to deal.

i'm 4'11 and my port is two inches above to the left of by belly button. i was so excited two weekends ago because i could wear a pair of jeans and they wern't tight. as the day progressed...i had to ditch the pants for elastic band shorts because of the port. i hope i'll be able to wear jeans again...but those pants will go to someone else ... they will be too big by the time the port pain stops with jeans.

I'm not sure where exactly my port is. The incision is about two inches up and to the left of my belly button (looking down at it). I used to feel what I figured was the port right around there, maybe a bit above, but now I don't feel it really. I figure I'm just going to have to deal and if so, so be it. But it's annoying.

I just got my first fill today and had no idea where my port was until then. Mine is one inch above my belly button and two inches to the left. It's not in the way of pants or bras. Let's hope it stays put!

Mine is about an inch up from the belly button as well and two inches over. I've started yoga, and I can feel it sometimes then.. I worry I'll dislogde it sometimes when I do a funky stretchy move.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
