So I had my surgery last Thursday (today being Monday). I am still in alot of pain. My stomach is killing me and I am constantly getting chest pains. How long did the pain typically last for you?

I had my surgery May 6, and I had chest pains too. My doctor told me it was my body feeling the band and the pain was coming from the swelling. I learned that if I breathed through my nose and exhaled through my mouth the pain would subside. If I talked too fast and ran out of breath, my chest would get tight and I would slow down and take a deep inhale through my nose and exhale through my mouth. It worked for me, you might try it. It will pass. I am on day 13 and almost all my pains and aches are gone. Minimal ache near the port from time to time from pants or laying on it in bed.

Good luck and have faith~~~

First of all, Girls. You should not have chest pains or get out of breath when talking. Nor should your stomach be "killing" you. You really need to talk to your doctors again about these symptoms. Its normal to feel pain after surgery where your incisions are and maybe the first day your chest might hurt, but you should not have breathing problems.

I also had my surgery on Thursday 5/14 and was experiencing a good amount of chest pain radiating up my neck. I usually experienced these while sipping on my liquids and think they are due to the swelling and gas pains. I found just shifting my position or lifting my arms made them feel better. Last night I tried the Gas X strips and I do believe they helped some. My stomach feels better today and there is less swelling. So, hang in there and walk, walk and walk it really does help all the symptoms. I hope you start feeling better soon.

Call your doc. It may be nothing, it may be something; let the pro decide! And if it is "just" pain maybe he can give you something to help it! Don't just sit and suffer.

I too was banded May 14th and had pain in chest, shoulder & neck area. My Dr. told me it was gas and alot of times it settles in those areas. Once I was home and was able to get rid of some of it I felt alot better. But I would check with your Dr. just in case.

Hi,

I was banded on May 15th and experienced the same type of pain for a day or two. I did a whole lot of walking up and down my hallway to get rid of the gas that settles in the chest and stomach area after surgery. I asked my mom (she's a nurse) why my chest was still sore eventhough I was pretty sure the gas pain was gone. She said I was probably sore from the intubation. They tip you backwards and stick a tube down your throat which can cause a residual soreness over the next couple days. So that may be why your chest hurts and it is a little hard to take deep breaths. I do agree with everyone else about calling your doc if your stomach is still killing you. My doc's office is pretty amazing about answering questions and I hope you've had a similar experience! It would be better to call and get an explanation or some relief than to suffer through! Hope everything goes well for you in your recovery. Congrats on your banding! :purplebananna:

I was banded on May 12th, (6 days out) and I'm also having this strange "breath hitching" type of thing. Happens maybe 8 times a day. Really starting to worry me, can't have this for life. Seeing the Dr. in 2 days.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
