Sorry guys, this one's for the girls!!!! Has your period stopped since surgery? My surgery was April 16th, so that was 5 weeks ago, and flo should be here by now? Anyone else experiencing this?

My problem is the opposite. I have had two periods in five weeks and both lasted three times as long as normal.

Granted I was more like every 5-6 weeks the last few years and only a day at a time...........but this stuff is crazy!!

I heard that your cycle gets all messed up after surgery and this is normal. Not normal for me, but maybe this is my "new" normal.

I think surgery messes up our bodies

Didn't mess a thing up for me. Perhaps you should see your doctor. I know that anesthesia can really mess up your whole body so I guess anything is possible.

I had my surgery on April 16th and started my cycle shortly after that and this month right on time as usual. Usually I get mine about every 28 days so no change for me at all.

Your cycle can get messed up from surgery and weight changes... if there is any doubt, I'd get a pregnancy test though...

Mine skipped for 6 weeks after surgery. I started to worry and saw my doctor who told me that after surgery, periods often get screwed up, coming either early or late. Sometimes you skip a month or two until everything gets back to normal.

Wait a few more weeks and see what happens. If you think you have missed two in a row, or 8+weeks, definitely get checked out.

I had surgery in February and I have yet to have a normal cycle. My doctor said this is normal after a surgery like that!

Hi Just a little advice sometimes when diet is reduced it is a normal reaction for the Body to shut Down menstruation, when you get back onto solids it may well start up again, are you drinking enough?? this may help!!!

I actually had dysmenseria (technical term for a screwed up period) BEFORE my surgery. Fat can actually secrete estrogen and mess up your cycle. I went 6 months one time without getting my period, then when I started exercising and eating right it finally came.

On the other side of things, eating too little can mess up your cycle as well. When your body is not getting enough nutrients, one of the first things it stops giving energy to is reproduction since it is not a part of your physiology that is necessary for life. Immediately after surgery we are eating very small amts and not getting in enough Protein. It's not surprising that your period would be late. Of course if you have had sex anytime since your last period I would still highly recommend a pregnancy check since that can't be completely ruled out.

I had surgery on April 9th and should have started that weekend. I didn't start until the 23rd. Spoke with my surgeon and my primary doctor and both said that after surgery and with the only having liquids, etc, it's normal for that to happen. Like other said, give it a little more time then check with a doc.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
