new to forum..question on fills and vommiting

Recommended Posts

I'm new to forums and have a questions. I had a fill done 3 months ago and since then can not eat bread or any meats. If I try after eating a few bites I start getting a pain near my band and vommit. To top it off I just moved out of state and need to find a new doctor and considering having the fill taken out. I'm worried I will gain weight or not lose any but hate being on liquids only. Is this normal, is it possible I have too much fill and can this be dangerous?

You definitely need to have an unfill as soon as possible and should have done it a long time ago. It is not normal. You may only need a small amount removed to be able to eat the way you should be, but you need to get checked out because vomiting too much can be harmful.

Some people will always have trouble with bread, but you should be able to eat meats, as long as you are taking small bites and chewing well. You should not have to be on liquids only. So it does sound like you need to get some fill removed.

Hi Misty! I just got banded last Monday and you seem to give great advice. I have a question for you... Is it possible to eat a small busrger after post op diets? I began to crave one yesterday but, I don't even know if it'll be possible to eat it again because of the bread.< /p>

I had a homemade burger tonight! A 4 oz beef patty(made with onion Soup mix and Worcestershire sauce) on a regular old hamburger bun, with light mayo, ketchup, a 2% milk cheese slice, and dill pickles. Granted, it took me the whole 30 minutes to eat it, and if I don't take small bites and chew well I start to get stuck. When I feel that start to happen I stop eating completely until the feeling goes away. Then I can finish the burger (after reheating it, lol). I don't have this meal often - once every couple of weeks - but it satisfies the burger craving!

Thank you for your help. I will call first thing in the morning to schedule an apt. with a doctor I found close to me on the web site and have some fill taken out. I will also try to eat slower until then. My husband and three kids eat so fast I think I'm also eatting way too fast after hearing how long it takes some people to finish a plate. Take care and good luck to all.:purplebananna:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
