Your pre and post op diets depend largely on what your surgeon wants and what s/he includes in the diet; once you get your info from him, you can post for more help if you need it! But you don't want to get a bunch of stuff he may not let you have!

One thing I have realised being on here is everyone is given different foods/timings etc when it comes to pre and post op.

Personally I had to be on Optifast shakes (3 shakes a day ONLY) for 2 weeks prior to surgery. Then CLEAR fluids for 24hrs (jelly, broth, tea, cordial, vegetable stock etc) following surgery to full liquids (soup, yoghurt, custard, sustagen etc) for 2 weeks. I has been a hard slog and I'm definately looking forward to Thursday (day 14) so I can at least have some mushie food hahaha

I had to be on Optifast for 2 weeks prior to surgery also. Then 48 hours prior to surgery was Clear Liquids. My allowed list for that had sugar free Jello, sugar free popsicles, diet sprite, and broths. After surgery was clear liquids for 24 hours in the hospital, full liquids for 4 weeks, mushies for 2 weeks, soft solids 2 weeks, then normal diet. For the full liquids I ate mainly cream of Tomato Soup, cream of potato Soup (blended), brocolli and cheese soup from TGIFridays, yogurt, and pudding. I also blended together some cheddar cheese soup and cream of potato soup, it tasted great. Definitely check with your surgeon though, every surgeon is very different.
