erikaz 0 Posted May 17, 2009 anyone know if sushi is ok with the band??
ait 0 Posted May 17, 2009 some people can eat it with no problem and others have difficulty with the rice and/or seaweed. i personally have been able to eat it, just chew really well and moisten with lots of soy sauce. i do find that sometimes the fish (usually i have salmon or tuna) has unchewable pieces so i just spit those out. JayTee562 1 Posted May 17, 2009 I had it once last week but I don't have much restriction. I didn't have trouble with the roll that had rice on the outside but the one with seaweed on the outside was a bit difficult to chew. If you are one of those people who could eat a lot of pieces you probably won't after surgery I was only able to eat about 4 or 5 pieces of small tuna roll and was full. ParrotheadCathy 0 Posted May 17, 2009 I agree with the above posters. Seaweed can be a problem; it hasn't been a problem for me so far, but who knows? Rice is another thing that doesn't work for everybody. And you wouldn't want to eat a lot of rice. I ordered 4 pieced of regular sushi and 4 yellow tail inagi (a slice of yellow tail laid on top of an egg-shaped ball of rice) and ate only the fish. That was plenty for me and I had no problems. That was also not long after my first fill, so I'm not sure about now.
wstorms 2 Posted May 17, 2009 I can eat sushi, but I am not tightly banded. I think the key is to chew chew chew!!!
BeautyLocs 0 Posted May 18, 2009 I have eaten sushi a few times since surgery. I get it served sashimi style (just fish; no rice, no seaweed) and have had no problems. With current restriction, I can eat about 5 pieces. BeautyLocs

I had ordered a sushi lunch thing but next time will just get an order of sushi or sashimi.
