AMAZING Protein Powder!

Recommended Posts

Not sure if anyone has tried "Nectar" Protein Powder, but I decided to give it a try. It comes in many fruit flavors and honestly, it's a nice change because I'm getting sick of chocolate, vanilla, etc. I got "Fuzzy Navel", I mixed it with Water and it tasted like a watered-down orange juice, but it was delicious! It has 23 g. of Protein per scoop, and you can mix it with water, milk, or juice. It really is whey protein that actually tastes great!!

Thanks for your opinion on this. I've been looking for a good one. I've been using Isopure, but every flavor, even the unflavored seems to have a milky aftertaste which is really gross to me, esp when I'm drinking a fruit punch flavor. I know the whey Proteins are taken from milk byproducts, but I thought using the pure isolates were supposed to help take away that milky aftertaste.

So did you detect any of that with the nectar? Where can you buy it?

Hi Kitty, nope, no milky aftertaste with this. And I know exactly what you mean about that gross taste. I make myself drink the shakes because they're high in Protein, but I almost gag on them. And I purchase my products at www.bjsbariatrics.com. I like them because they let you mix and match a case of AchievOne, rather than having to buy an entire case of the same flavor.

Just ordered the cappachino flavor and the apple flavor. I will let you guys know how I like it. I too was getting sick of chocolate - but I do put a little bit of Peanut Butter in mine - that seems to help. It does boost calories but it also increases the Protein and makes it more bearable.

Have you discovered powdered Peanut Butter yet? I orderd some Fitnutz and PB2 to try and they're both great. About 50 calories for a serving vs. 190 for regular. I love adding them to my Protein powder or low fat ice cream. Real peanut better is better but just ends up being too many calories for me.

I will have to try that. I would love to cut the calories.

I usually only use 1tbsp which is about 90 calories but feels like I am getting a real treat - so for a Meal Replacement - it isn't too bad. I generally eat about 300 calories per meal.

Thanks for telling me about it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
